Full Job Description

Resource Innovations is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our growing HR team.   We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Payroll Specialist with a strong background in multi-jurisdictional payroll to join our dynamic team. As a Payroll Specialist you will be responsible for managing and executing payroll processes for employees located across various states within the U.S., as well as Canada and Puerto Rico. This role requires a deep understanding of multi-state and international payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements. You will work closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, while providing exceptional service to employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing:
    • Process payroll for employees across multiple U.S. states, Canada, and Puerto Rico, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
    • Verify and reconcile payroll data, including timekeeping records, salary adjustments, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and international payroll regulations and tax laws.
    • Ensure payroll tax compliance by preparing and filing payroll tax returns, and managing year-end processes.
    • Generate and distribute payroll reports, including earnings statements, tax summaries, and other relevant documentation.
  • Employee Support:
    • Address payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees, providing clear and accurate information.
    • Resolve discrepancies related to employee compensation, benefits, and deductions.
    • Educate employees on payroll processes and procedures, fostering understanding and compliance.
  • Systems and Data Management:
    • Utilize payroll software and systems to process payroll and maintain employee records.
    • Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of payroll data by implementing and adhering to data security protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, with a focus on multi-state and international payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Proficiency in Paylocity and ADP payroll software and systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred skills, education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent certification is a plus.
