PushBlack is the nation’s largest nonprofit media organization for Black Americans, reaching 9 million people across multiple platforms. We tell empowering stories on Black life and history that inspire people to take liberating actions in the best interest of Black communities.
In 2021, PushBlack grew to 6M subscribers on Facebook Messenger and 500K followers on Instagram. We also ran the nation’s largest GOTV campaign for Black Americans. In May 2020, we launched Black History Year, our critically-acclaimed podcast, which has received over 3M downloads. As the #1 trusted media source for millions of Black Americans, our growing media footprint empowers our audience and activates them to take actions in the best interest of the Black community, driving unprecedented levels of civic engagement.
What We’re Looking For
We‘re hiring a diligent and dedicated Operations Associate to support day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate for this position has an opportunity to work in partnership with the Director of Operations and other leadership team members to build business systems to support a national, remote media organization. The ideal candidate for this position values smooth operations, is a systems thinker who enjoys iterative work, and wants to have input and an impact. This opportunity will expose the right candidate to a full range of business development work and an opportunity to grow within the organization.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Process invoices, credit card reporting, and expense reimbursements (e.g., reviewing for accuracy, appropriate documentation, coding and approvals)
- Provide financial administrative support for cyclical reconciliations, annual audits, State Charitable Registrations, annual and mid-year budgeting process, maintenance of internal controls and associated policies.
- Provide administrative support for contract management, virtual mailbox, annual insurance renewals, and business operations requests from staff.
- Assist with purchase requests
- Assist with training and onboarding of new operational processes and/or software
- Conduct business operations related research and produce reports as needed
- Manage the Accounts Payable email account, responding to requests in a timely manner and professionally
- Manage Business Operations team calendars
- Assist with special projects at the direction of the Director of Business Operations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Skills + Experience
- Three (3) or more years of experience in nonprofit accounting and/or finance
- High proficiency in Bill.com, Expensify, SageIntacct, and DocuSign
- Attention to detail, deadline oriented and keen ability to problem solve
- Work experience that includes a focus on building and improving infrastructure
- Ability to build systems that support a national team
- Ability to execute independently
- Strong communication, listening and influencing skills
- Ability to prioritize actions to align with strategic priorities
- Solid writing skills and strong ability to motivate the actions of others through writing
This Would Put You Over The Top
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, business or related fields
- Experience building the systems mentioned above in a remote environment
- Project management certification
- Understands that this work is in service of the organization and the people who do the work of the organization
- Familiarity with Jotform, Google Workspace, Slack, Trello, and/or other online productivity tools
