CRIO, a fast-growing clinical research technology organization, is focused on revolutionizing clinical trials with advanced technology and data analytics. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Business Development to lead our growth initiatives, drive strategic partnerships, and expand our presence within the sponsor and CRO markets.
As the Director, Business Development, you will be instrumental in acquiring and retaining new pharmaceutical and CRO clients, focusing on top-tier sponsors and large to mid-sized CRO prospects. You will work closely with our executive team to craft and execute a strategic business development plan that aligns with CRIO's vision.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and Pursue New Opportunities: Drive growth through partnerships, collaborations, and licensing agreements with pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and CROs.
- Build and Maintain Strategic Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with potential clients, understanding their challenges to present tailored solutions and a compelling value proposition.
- Strategic Account Planning: Develop and maintain account plans for targeted clients, coordinating closely with internal teams, including product, sales, and customer success, to deliver solutions that align with client needs.
- Lead Contract Negotiations: Oversee negotiation and execution of contracts with new clients, ensuring favorable terms that foster long-term growth.
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership: Leverage senior-level relationships to drive forward sponsor/CRO business, meeting or exceeding revenue targets for key accounts.
- Stay Informed on Industry Trends: Keep abreast of industry developments to ensure CRIO’s solutions remain competitive and relevant.
- Represent CRIO at Industry Events: Serve as a thought leader, representing CRIO at conferences and trade shows to promote our solutions and connect with potential clients.
CRM and Sales Success Tracking: Maintain accurate records of contacts and activities in CRM software, executing clear plans for sustained sales success.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience: 5-7+ years in business development within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or clinical research industry, with a proven track record of closing complex, multi-year SaaS engagements in life sciences.
- Proven Success: Demonstrated experience selling to pharma, biotech, and/or CRO organizations, with a record of success navigating multi-functional decision-making processes.
- Strategic and Analytical Skills: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with experience developing go-to-market strategies for new products and services.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Outstanding negotiation and interpersonal skills, capable of building lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the clinical research landscape, the eclinical market, and emerging technologies.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects, driven by a passion for advancing clinical research.

Base Salary: $140,000-160,000 + uncapped commissions (total comp projected of $300K+ at quota)
