Who We Are:
The Educational Theatre Association is dedicated to enriching and enhancing the field of theatre education through innovative programs, professional development opportunities, and advocacy. We empower educators, artists, and students by providing resources and services that elevate the quality of theatre education nationwide.
About the Role:
We’re seeking a strategic Chief Learning Officer (CLO) who will lead the design, development, and delivery of professional learning programs, resources, and services for our members. The CLO will ensure that all educational initiatives align with our strategic priorities and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within our educational team.
Job Location: This is a fully remote position.
Salary: $85,000 to $90,000 per year.
A Typical Day May Include:
- Overseeing the development and implementation of professional learning programs tailored to the needs of our diverse membership.
- Managing and mentoring a team of subject matter experts, instructional designers, and educational staff, ensuring their professional growth and success.
- Facilitating team meetings, setting goals, and tracking the progress of key projects.
- Engaging with diverse educator constituencies, including classroom teachers, teaching artists, and higher education faculty, to build strong relationships and gather feedback.
- Representing the organization as a thought leader in theatre education, advocating for our mission with policymakers, partners, and the broader community.
- Overseeing the department’s budget and resources to ensure efficient program delivery.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as marketing and technology, to integrate and promote educational initiatives.
- Monitoring program performance and utilizing data-driven decision-making to continuously improve our offerings.
- Staying informed about trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in adult and professional learning.
- Experimenting with new instructional approaches to enhance the member experience.
Requirements

- You are passionate about theatre education and committed to elevating the profession through innovative learning programs.
- You are a strategic thinker with a track record of successful team leadership and program management.
- You have exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse educator constituencies.
- You bring a strong background in instructional design, adult learning principles, and educational leadership.
- You are data-driven and adept at using insights to inform and improve program delivery.
- You’re excited to lead a team in a mission-driven organization and make a lasting impact on the field of theatre education.
Nice to Have But Not Necessary:
- Experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in arts or education organizations.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in professional learning.
