We are seeking an Account Director—a dynamic, sales-driven leader with a proven history of developing accounts at the intersection of business, technology, and people. In this critical role, you will drive transformative growth by positioning Phase2 as the premier digital partner while consistently exceeding ambitious sales targets. Your strategic insight will unlock new revenue streams and enhance client partnerships through proactive engagement and meticulous performance tracking.
You will focus on building high-value relationships, positioning Phase2 as a trusted advisor in digital experiences and products. Your expertise in addressing client needs with innovative solutions will strengthen and grow key accounts, setting a benchmark for success in our core Health industry and beyond.
This position reports to: VP, Account Management
Salary Range: $129,000 - $140,000
Job Responsibilities
- Growth Driver: As a catalyst for transformative growth, you will enhance Phase2’s position as the preferred digital partner by solidifying existing relationships and exploring untapped potential within accounts. Your focus will include securing renewals, broadening our influence, and identifying new digital experience and product pathways that contribute to our overall financial success and annual objectives through the achievement of sales and profitability targets.
- Strategic Seller: Develop and execute innovative account plans that align with client objectives to maximize impact and ROI, while achieving and exceeding annual sales targets through strategic planning, proactive client engagement, and performance tracking.
- Client Partner: Cultivate and strengthen relationships by identifying and leveraging upsell and cross-sell opportunities that align with evolving digital needs. Maintain robust customer connections through regular outreach, including check-ins, planning discussions, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
- Opportunity Accelerator: Broaden Phase2’s reach by engaging new departments and areas within accounts, pursuing referrals, and conducting outreach to fuel growth and emerging opportunities.
- Account Strategist: Act as a trusted advisor by leveraging industry insights to shape digital strategies, strengthen client loyalty, and maintain visibility with decision-makers, while collaborating with Phase2 team members to craft product visions and roadmaps that deliver strategic value.
- Lead Generator & Pipeline Manager: Identify leads and oversee the entire sales cycle—from prospecting and qualification to needs assessment, pitching, and proposal/contract processes—ensuring that all account documentation complies with Phase2's business and legal standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaborator: Partner effectively with sales, delivery, solutions, and project management teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engagements, even in challenging environments. Prioritize revenue-impacting client matters, addressing them with care and a commitment to exceptional service and value in coordination with project management and leadership.
- Account Advocate: Work with marketing to convey account successes and ensure internal leadership has regular, strategic updates to stay informed on account developments and insights.
- External Partnership Connector: Leverage strategic alliances to enhance service capabilities and deliver increased client value.
- Agency Representative: Represent Phase2 at key events to engage clients, support thought leadership initiatives with client leadership, and maintain an active presence in the industry.
- Client Travel: Travel (10-15%) to nurture client relationships, lead client engagement in collaboration with the assigned team, support events, and generate leads in key markets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven Sales Experience: 5+ years of experience in selling, account management, consulting, or client services within a digital agency or consultancy, with a proven record of leading complex accounts and exceeding annual sales targets.
- Sales-Focused Mindset: Demonstrated success in account growth, upselling, and cross-selling within existing accounts, with the ability to identify and accelerate on revenue opportunities through strategic sales efforts.
- Strategic Insight: Strong understanding of digital strategy, design, and technology, with a proven ability to translate client needs into impactful solutions.
- Leadership Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment and adept at resolving complex challenges.
- Business Acumen: In-depth knowledge of client industry challenges and digital experience and product trends, with a focus on value creation and measurable outcomes.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Industry Familiarity: Experience in the healthcare or health industries is a plus.
Environment
Physical Demands
- Frequently remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasional adjusting or moving of light objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
- Continuous communication on live video chats, calls, and through emails and messaging platforms for the purpose of exchanging information.
- Continuous repetitive movements that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Travel (approx. 15% - 25%) when required.
