Position Summary

A Business Development Representative (BDR) at OpenSymmetry serves as the first point of contact for prospective clients. A BDR will heavily focus on supporting territory and pipeline development for the Sales Executives in each region. This position is a sales role, you will be the ‘hunter’ responsible for uncovering and qualifying opportunities which are then handed off to the Sales Executives to lead through to close. In this role, you will take a consultative approach to understand a prospect's organizational goals and needs, identify the key pain points, build the initial trust that OpenSymmetry can potentially help solve those pains, and introduce the regional Sales Executive at the appropriate time to begin the solution portion of the sales cycle. An OpenSymmetry BDR builds the top of the sales and marketing funnel by sourcing Contacts who meet the OpenSymmetry Ideal Client Profile (ICP) requirements, nurtures the relationships of their sourced Contacts and Contacts acquired through a variety of marketing initiatives to generate interest to meet with our Sales Executives, and ensures that the meetings organized with these prospects lead to a healthy pipeline of handoff opportunities for the Sales Executives to achieve their designated attainment goal.

Outcomes

  • A BDR will be expected to meet a minimum threshold of ICP Contacts sourced monthly (Prospecting stage) and convert them to marketing opportunities (Discovery stage)
  • A BDR will be expected to build and execute territory and event-based campaigns in partnership with the regional Sales Executives and marketing department, and in some cases our software partners
  • A high-performing BDR should identify, qualify, and transfer a designated number of handoffs per month
  • Success is measured by both volume and quality of handoffs qualified

  • Able to identify prospects from their own prospecting efforts, leveraging their own network to find new opportunities
  • Someone with a track record of success meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Open to constructive feedback for performance improvement / Coachable

Nice to have Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of B2B selling experience, preferably in a technology and consulting environment
  • Experience working within various CRM systems (Hubspot is a bonus)
  • Knowledge of compensation software applications and business processes
