We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to add to our growing team at our Gold (SUTQ), NAC-accredited childcare and preschool center located at 2701 Maret PL NE, Canton, OH 44705.
As an Administrative Assistant you will work side-by-side supporting the Center Director with necessary behind-the-scenes duties, overseeing, planning, monitoring progress and assist with day-to-day operations. A successful candidate will collaborate with staff to ensure the efficient operation of all aspects of the center. You will work with and interact directly with parents, children, and staff on a daily basis. Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with state child care licensing guidelines
- Oversee daily operations in coordination with the Center Director
- Manage daily staff scheduling
- Contribute to curriculum development and staff training programs, ensuring alignment with the center's educational philosophy
- Supervise staff, monitor performance, and provide training to ensure adherence to center standards
- Assist in hiring new staff and maintaining staff and children files
- Act as a role model for classroom expectations and center culture
- Foster community growth by promoting the center and increasing enrollment
- Maintain regular communication with parents, addressing concerns and keeping them informed of new developments
- Host center events and provide tours to prospective families
- Answer phone calls, greet visitors, and respond to inquiries in-person, by phone, by mail, or email
- Ensure a safe, enjoyable environment for children and staff
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel and bend for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Able to walk up and down steps several times each day
- Able to physically respond quickly in an emergency
- Participate in safety drills by following the established guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Candidates with a Child Development Associate (CDA), AA or higher Degree in Education with a concentration in Child Development or Early Childhood will have a competitive edge
- At least one year of child care experience working in a licensed ODJFS child care program
- Proven experience as assistant director or other similar position
- Energetic, friendly, a team player, organized, problem solving ability and self-motivation
- Computer literacy and knowledge of basic software programs
- Knowledge of ODJFS licensing rules
- Clean BCI/FBI background
- Demonstrated expertise in organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy as well as must meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel
- Knowledge of Procare is a plus
