Full Job Description
Our Accounting Assistants work closely with, as well as report directly to the Accounting Controller. They also work in conjunction with all others in the organization. The Accounting Assistant is expected to learn our systems with minimal supervision. This individual should be extremely organized and have great time management skills. The position entails interaction with agencies as well as multiple business partners outside of the company. These individuals exhibit the same core values of the company (Positive Attitude; Adaptability; Work Ethic; Dedication; Relational-Good Customer Service).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
· Handles cash receipts and disbursements
· Produces bills and cancellations
· Maintains and updates general ledger
· Effectively manages a large volume of workload as assigned
· Has the ability to meet strict guidelines
· Assists Marketing partners in updating agency database with commission structure
· Completes the Facultative reporting process.
· Supports management as may be needed (various project work, etc.).
· Works to achieve the goals as described in the annual Employee Performance Review document for this position.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION:
An associates degree is required, a bachelor's degree with be looked upon favorably. Some accounting education, or equivalent experience is preferred. Experience with QuickBooks will be looked upon favorably.
EXPERIENCE:
Working with Accounting-related and Insurance related computer systems is desirable. (QuickBooks; Excel; Word; PowerPoint; Outlook) Any insurance related experience is a plus.
SKILLS:
· A professional work ethic is paramount to obtaining and being retained in the position
· Experience with various computing systems, mainly Excel and other Accounting-related software
· Communication effectiveness is critical to success
· Attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload is essential.
· Be well organized and work well independently.
· Adaptability & flexibility are integral for this position.
· Ability to multitask is imperative
