Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the State of Michigan Project Management Office supporting the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) in a multi-year legacy modernization project. This role is critical within the DTMB Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) and involves close collaboration with DTMB Agency Services technical teams as well as agency executives and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Utilize the State of Michigan’s Project Portfolio Management Tool (Clarity) to prepare project schedules, assign resources, and manage budgets.
- Prepare information for presentations to various audiences including executives, managers, and project team members.
- Monitor, control, and communicate project progress by actively managing the cost, schedule, scope, resources, quality, and risks.
- Provide clear, timely, and accurate communications with all stakeholders, ensuring consensus and commitment from technical and business teams.
- Develop and maintain key SUITE Project Management Methodology (PMM) deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage interfaces and communications with other agencies.
- Ensure the project adheres to SUITE PMM and System Engineering Methodology (SEM), managing transitions through the stages and phases of the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate and enforce the Change Management process, managing Change Requests and ensuring all have appropriate approval.
- Create project Corrective Action Plans (CAP) for projects in yellow or red status.
- Manage vendor deliverables and adherence to contract specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication and follow-up skills.
- Significant experience in formal IT project management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-vendor environment supporting a hybrid workforce.
- Availability to work onsite for 2-3 days a week; the remainder can be worked from home.
- Proficient in using project management tools such as Clarity.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to foster collaborative participation.
