Full Job Description

Anna's House is looking for an experienced, compassionate, and driven Human Resources Generalist who has solid experience in benefits to join our Support Center team.

The Human Resources Generalist will manage various human resources programs and have a broad knowledge of human resources functions, such as benefits, onboarding, payroll, and employee relations. This role will be familiar with labor law and employment regulations. The HR Generalist will undertake a wide range of HR tasks, like maintaining employee records; organizing trainings; administering employee onboarding paperwork, benefits and leaves; and executing HR policies. This role will use Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to ensure all employee records are up-to-date and confidential. This person will also act as the main point of contact for employees’ queries on benefit related topics. The goal is to ensure the HR Department’s operations will be running smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Administer benefit plans and manage enrollment process
  • Support and manage leave programs (vacation, FMLA, Workers Compensation)
  • Support employee onboarding and orientation and update records with new hires
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Help research, organize, and implement training & development initiatives
  • Provide support to approximately 500+ employees in various HR-related topics such paid time off, benefits, life insurance, 401k, and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Promote and communicate HR programs to create an effective total rewards program
  • Assist in development and implementation of human resources policies
  • Undertake tasks around performance management
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like employee turnover rates and enrollment metrics
  • Organize and track quarterly and annual employee performance reviews
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper (if necessary) form
  • Update employee records with new hire information and/or changes in employment status
  • Enhance job satisfaction by helping employees resolve issues promptly
  • Stay up to date and ensure compliance with labor regulations (OSHA, FMLA, Workers Compensation, etc.)
  • Provide phone and administrative support to the Support Center team and guests
  • Liaise with other departments or functions (Finance, IT, Operations, etc.)
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity
  • Assist in ad-hoc HR projects, like collection of employee feedback
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP a plus

Experience

  • At least three years of proven experience as an HR Generalist required
  • At least two years of proven experience in benefits required

Skills

  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems
  • Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
