Business Development at Detroit Labs

Our digital innovation expertise and services cover a wide array of needs. We ideate, validate, and create through strategic exercises like design sprints, early stage consulting, cloud/architecture solutions, large scale web and mobile apps, and even staffing. Our business development representatives do the research and build strong client relationships to understand how to bring the most value and customized solutions to accelerate clients’ current and future needs.

Account Management at Detroit Labs 

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and cultivating new business opportunities while building strong, long-term relationships with enterprise clients. By leveraging your deep understanding of their business challenges, you will work to provide customized, strategic solutions that drive growth. You will serve as a trusted advisor to key decision-makers, including C-suite executives, identifying both immediate and future needs. A core aspect of your role will be leading negotiations around contract renewals and bill rate adjustments, ensuring terms that are profitable and aligned with our company's objectives. In addition, you will collaborate closely with internal teams, including delivery and project management, to ensure seamless execution of client solutions. You will also stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies, using this knowledge to offer thought leadership and proactively address your clients' evolving needs. With a focus on achieving revenue targets, you will manage a robust sales pipeline and consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual quotas, ensuring long-term business success for both our company and our clients.

Requirements

    • Experience developing and building relationships with all levels of stakeholders including C-level executives and decision makers 
    • Experience working collaboratively with delivery teams to create contracts, proposals, pitch decks, sales collateral and any other material required
    • Ability to navigate client challenges and objections, and work creatively to provide appropriate solutions with a sense of urgency
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills across large and small audiences, and across different corporate audiences. Skilled at presenting to C-level executives and decision makers
    • Ability and excitement to research and explore new and emerging technologies to provide best fit solutions to our clients
    • Ability and willingness to perform on-site visits with clients to facilitate meetings, hold special events, and have a positive presence to grow relationships
    • Willingness to learn and grow in understanding of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion

Responsibilities

Develop Client Relationship and Drive Business Partnership

      • Serve as the lead point of contact for all client account management matters and staffing placements including overseeing client/customer/vendor relations to ensure that service expectations are met or exceeded
      • Create and develop reports to forecast potential risks in the client relationship and work with the team and client to mitigate them
      • Develop all levels of customer relationships
      • Think creatively to come up with custom solutions to fit dynamic client needs that align with budget, timelines, and capabilities
      • Collaborate with business development, marketing, and leadership teams to create and execute strategies for expanding within existing clients. Focus on identifying opportunities for growth across digital strategy, custom design, software, staffing, and hosting services

Exceed Client Expectations and Support Excellent Operations

      • Coordination and execution of sales to delivery transition activities for sold projects.
      • Work with the services managers to ensure that client vision and technical execution are in harmony
      • Lead and/or facilitate collaborative cadence meetings with clients to ensure there are no unknowns or surprises with project status, issues, deadlines
      • Lead internal staff augmentation strategy sessions, sharing client relationship vision, priorities, and risks with the ELT. Provide insights on people trends and operational risks, while ensuring accurate and timely updates to data systems, including internal staffing rosters and client platforms like Allegis or PTO tracking.

Travel

This role requires regular travel, with overnight stays at least twice a month. You will need to be comfortable traveling frequently to meet with clients, attend meetings, and participate in special events, ensuring a strong presence and fostering client relationships across various locations.

    • The base salary for this role is $115,000 with uncapped on target earning (OTE) of $160,000/yr in bonus payout based on performance
