Mize CPAs Inc. was recently named a Top 200 Workplace for 2024 by USA Today! We are a leading regional accounting and IT firm with offices in Topeka and Overland Park, Kansas. Our firm works with clients in a number of industries and has a rapidly growing restaurant and hospitality division that serves clients nationwide.

We are looking for an in-person only Tax Administrative Assistant in the Topeka office. Full-time availability is needed, 40 hours per week.

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have experience performing various administrative functions in a tax department within an accounting firm.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the office as assigned
  • Provide relief/backup to Receptionist as needed, which includes but is not limited to: receive and greet visitors; answer and route telephone calls and relay messages; and schedule appointments
  • Prepare and track tax engagement letters and process annual returns
  • Prepare and track unclaimed property engagement letters and assist with due diligence process
  • Assist with year-end reporting procedures, including fringe benefit letter processing and tracking and distributing 1099 packets
  • Prepare correspondence and reports as required
  • Document imaging to digital locations as required in an accurate and timely manner so they can be retrieved efficiently
  • Assist with maintenance of contacts database
  • Must be available to work the hours required to meet deadlines for work assigned; this requires flexibility and working hours that may include weekend days, especially during busy periods
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments with minimal supervision

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • In-office work during and after training, due to the administrative nature of the position
  • Individuals at this level normally have a High School Diploma
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • One year experience in office environment
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Excellent typing, proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a CPA firm or professional office environment
  • Working knowledge of office practices and procedures
