Full Job Description
East Bank Club, an upscale and prestigious fitness, sports, and dining facility in Chicago, is seeking a talented Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods for our dining outlets and special events. You will work under the guidance of our Chefs to ensure the highest quality and consistency in our pastry offerings.
Starting Rate: $24 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods according to recipes and standards
- Assist in the production of high-quality breads, cakes, cookies, and other pastry products
- Plate and garnish desserts in an appealing and creative way
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Ensure proper storage and handling of all pastry ingredients
- Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
- Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
- Collaborate with other members of the culinary team to ensure efficient operations
- At all times, proper sanitation and safety guidelines must be followed, and all kitchen work and storage areas must be kept clean and organized.
- Help with inventory management and ordering of pastry supplies
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Pastry Cook or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques and production
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients, calculating ratios.
- Creative flair and artistic skills in plating and presentation
- Attention to detail and high standards for quality
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Complete production sheets and other records as required
- May be required to prepare baked goods for special diets
- Provide training and coaching for staff as needed
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Minimum of two years of experience in preparing and training others in fruit coulis preparation is required.
- Culinary degree or formal pastry training (Preferred)
- Ability to lift 50lbs
