Full Job Description
Neal R. Gross and Co. is growing our team in our Washington, DC headquarters. As a fractional IT Manager, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the efficient operation and management of the company's information technology systems and infrastructure. You will be responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, implementing new technologies, and maintaining data security. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in coordinating IT-related activities and liaising with external vendors or service providers as needed. You will manage an entry-level IT technician, who can handle daily administrative and help desk-level tasks.
Location: This is a fractional, or part-time, role and will require going into the downtown Washington DC office 2 days a week. Remote work will be limited, especially at first.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Support:
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripheral devices, and software applications.
- Network Infrastructure:
- Collaborate with external vendors or service providers for network setup, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Data Security and Backup:
- Educate employees on data security best practices and conduct periodic security audits.
- Hardware and Software Management:
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and software solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
- IT Project Management:
- Communicate project updates and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
- Documentation and Training:
- Document IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on using hardware, software, and IT tools effectively.
- Develop and update user manuals and training materials as needed.
- Vendor Management:
- Monitor vendor performance and escalate issues or concerns as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree. Preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-10 years experience in IT support, network administration, or a similar role.
- Leadership experience in an IT department, having gained familiarity with hardware, software, and security aspects of running a small business IT function.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking protocols, and software applications.
- Familiarity with data security principles, best practices, and industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Project management experience is a plus.
