Position Summary
CDC Small Business Finance is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join
our finance team. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial records,
maintaining compliance with accounting principles and contributing to the overall financial success of the
company. Your primary responsibilities will involve reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, preparing
reports, and assisting with various accounting tasks. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members.
Essential Responsibilities
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and update the general ledger by recording all financial transactions accurately and timely. Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries related to various financial transactions, including revenue recognition, expense accruals and asset/liability adjustments.
- Audit Support: Assist with the annual audit by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, policies, and regulations to maintain accurate and reliable financial records.
- Financial Software and systems: Utilize accounting software and financial systems to streamline processes and enhance accuracy.
- Financial Reporting: prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the financial services sector.
- Proven work experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, practices and standards.
- Proficient in using Sage accounting software preferred but not required.
- Proficient in using MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively effectively within the team.
