The Director of Business Development will continuously pursue additional opportunities to provide potential and established customers with engineering, design, and construction services. This individual will have direct responsibility for cultivating new work from assigned clients for which he/she is working or has worked. The position requires advanced learning and exercise of judgment; engineering, design and oftentimes construction alternatives are vast, and it is important to “optimize” each solution based on each application. The work involves intellectual evaluation of alternatives and is varied in character because of the variety of industries, clients and projects we serve.
The Director of Business Development at times coordinates and supports administration between operating units engineering, design, and construction efforts as required by specific customers’ project. This coordination effort is accomplished through providing necessary guidelines and direction to the respective ITAC groups for the efficient use and allocation of the firm’s resources. The Director of Business Development shall have multiple project opportunity pursuits and client assignments and has the responsibility for the management of the South East Business Development and operational sales, including staffing, BD assignments, personnel administration, overall direction, OU goals and vision. Tracks, schedules and opens proposal tracking numbers (PDs) as needed; sets deadlines for reviews and delivery. Provides quarterly reports on proposal costs and success rates to business unit leaders.
The Director of Business Development is responsible for maintaining positive client relations, serving the interests of both the client and ITAC fairly. The Business Development Manager is responsible to the customer for the overall client experience and for meeting all proposal commitments as they relate to reviews, schedules and submission.
Management of recognized department of the business; direction of the work of two or more full-time employees or their equivalent; authority to hire or fire other employees or the suggestion and recommendation as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change in status of other employees.
Performance of work requires advanced knowledge that is primarily intellectual in character, and involvement in work requires the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.
Requirements
- 4-year degree in Engineering, science or equivalent
- Minimum of 15 years in Project and Business Development in a Sr. level position.
- Strong rolodex of Industrial customers within ITAC key Industries and growth markets.
- Knowledgeable of engineering, construction and design/build practices, procedures and laws.
- Able to motivate others.
- Strong ability to be objective and flexible with ability to anticipate and resolve conflict.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze financial information to facilitate decision making.
- Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills to build and maintain productive relationships with senior leadership, department staff, and internal and external clients.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to plan and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong deadline management skills and, when necessary to meet deadlines, be willing to work extra time required to meet deadlines.
- Outstanding writing skills necessary to create and develop proposal, communications, and marketing content.
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft office, and database management.
- Willingness to travel as necessary to offices and professional meetings.
