About Blue Corona:

Blue Corona is a technology-enabled digital marketing company that helps home services companies increase their leads and sales, optimize their marketing investments, and differentiate their brands online. Blue Corona deploys inbound and outbound internet marketing strategies such as paid media  (PPC) advertising, search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing, website design and development, and marketing analytics services to measurably increase marketing performance.

Blue Corona offers its clients a full set of services for website creation, hosting, administration, and maintenance. This includes the design, development, & launch of new websites, ongoing hosting, security, & website administration services, and ongoing website update services such as promotions, campaigns, new landing pages, add-on functionality, and other miscellaneous services.  We do most of our Development in the WordPress ecosystem and most of our deployments are on WPEngine. Our websites make extensive use of tracking technologies to power our analytics and engagement tools to increase lead conversions.

*Please note, we are only able to hire those who currently reside in either EST or CST time zones, not including New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Columbus, OH, or Philadelphia, PA.

Summary of Position:

As Manager, Web Services, reporting to the VP-Client Services, you will be responsible for all technology solutions we deploy and executing on ongoing services we provide for our clients and to support our internal operations related to client solutions.

You will direct the day-to-day execution activities of the technical teams responsible for our website services. You will be a contributor, taking on challenging problems and driving them or providing team members with guidance to arrive at solutions. You will help develop a platform and component approach for website delivery and frameworks to manage websites at scale. You will keep up with technology and industry trends and seek ways to continuously improve the services we provide and the tools we use. You will also contribute to the growth of the junior team members and growing the team spirit among members.

Position Responsibilities:

Lead the technical team members and contribute to the following functions on our web development team:

  • Site and systems administration including overseeing site uptime, functionality, performance, security, updates, upgrades, compliance, backups, recovery, and related functions across all production websites and their dependencies.
  • Managed website changes and related services including servicing ongoing client requests, changes, modifications, integrations, client interfaces on site questions, training, support, and related functions.
  • Custom integration setups: Setup integrations to digital marketing, engagement, CRM, and data delivery, and other systems used by our customers from time-to-time. Maintain custom integration libraries for re-use for similar requests.
  • Platforms administration & Integrations – including interfacing with platform, and delivery teams, keeping up with platform and delivery capabilities and processes, platform version access and repositories for core platforms we use to demonstrate and deliver our services.
    • Business Analytics
    • Website Creation
    • Engagement systems (e.g. calls forms, chats, schedulers, text, etc.)
    • Demo Environments (similar to site & systems administration areas)
    • Other platforms we incorporate into our solutions from time-to-time
  • Infrastructure management including interfacing with our infrastructure partners (e.g. WPEngine, AWS), delivery, and development teams to:
    • Oversee and manage our production infrastructure
    • Maintain secure access
    • Evaluate new and deprecated capabilities and third-party tools  and adjust infrastructure footprint.
    • Maintain a disaster recovery plan
    • Ensure continued optimal, reliable, and cost-effective operation and utilization of infrastructure & related technologies
    • Monitor and action regulatory compliance
  • Development processes & tools: Be proficient and operationalize use of agile development processes and tools including, but not limited to the following:
    • Project Management & Support e.g. JIRA, ClickUp
    • Version Control, e.g. GitHub
    • Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) e.g. Visual Studio
    • Software Testing, e.g. Postman, Selenium
    • Usability Analysis, e.g. Mix Panel, Hotjar, Crazy Egg
    • CI/CD Pipelines, e.g. Jenkins, CircleCI
    • Code Review / Collaboration, e.g. Git
    • Database Management Tools, e.g. MySQL Workbench, MongoDB Compass
    • Monitoring& Performance e.g. Sentry.io, New Relic, Splunk
  • Team leadership & management of web services technical personnel including recruit, train, assign responsibilities, plan workload coverage, motivate, evaluate, mentoring and enable career growth
  • Stakeholder communications & management including collaboration and communications with other department leaders and stakeholders to execute and deliver on organization needs, goals, and strategies. Interfacing with Clients as called upon to work on significant technical issues and project our technical expertise
  • Technology research and adoption including keeping up with relevant technology trends and developments, our platform developments, understanding the industries we serve and planning adoption of new technology, platform versions and components, and partner products to maximize our market differentiation and value we deliver to our customers

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 3-6 years of experience as a Senior Web / Software Developer or Lead
  • Experience in and interest in leading technical teams
  • Experience with integrations such as Zapier, and email providers such as SendGrid
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress and WPEngine or related ecosystems
  • Hands-on experience with LAMP and related frameworks & tools. MERN is a +
  • Experience in DNS management for web-hosting and email deliverability
  • In-depth knowledge of WordPress & WPEngine elements e.g.  tools, plugins, patterns
  • Experience in code management policies & systems, e.g., GitHub
  • Active in development communities, forums, and other technology communities
  • Knowledge of development standards and trends with ability to operationalize
  • Apply out-of-the-box thinking for innovative solutions to challenging problems
  • Think about reusability & scale in solutions implementation
  • Process oriented & use metrics to drive and manage technical processes effectively
  • Practical experience in using the Agile framework
  • Detail oriented and driven to excellence in code quality, execution, and management
  • Effective communicator, verbally and in writing, bridging functional and technical topics
  • Business oriented, connect client and company business needs with technical solutions
  • Passionate about mentoring junior team members to grow in their careers
  • Strong work ethic, taking ownership to get things done with a “Can-Do” attitude
  • Strong critical thinking skills
