Job Title: Temporary Design Director
Length of Engagement: Approximately 8-12 weeks. This is a 1099 Contractor role.
Compensation: up to $55/hr.
Department: Marketing
Reports to: VP, Marketing + Dotted Line to SVP Product, Consumer/Growth
Experience Required: At least 5 years of design experience, or equivalent
Supervisory/Training Responsibilities: This role works closely with others. This is a temporary, Individual Contributor role with expectations below.
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM ET (other US time zones may be considered)
Job Location: Remote in the United States, with a preference for Minneapolis, MN.

Job Overview
The Temporary Design Director will be directly responsible for overseeing the brand and UX design standards and output for the organization. Your overarching goal, on a temporary basis, is to lead, develop and define the design (both UX and brand) strategy across various platforms. A key part of this role is to identify and understand the current and emerging client and consumer behaviors, as well as the latest trends.
This role encompasses UX Management, UX Design and Art Director responsibilities.
Some of your Key Responsibilities will Include:
Overall Art Director Responsibilities:
- Identify innovative opportunities through market research and information gathering.
- Work in harmony with the business strategy and the users needs.
- Communicate design decisions, design changes and requirements through presentations and other documentation.
- Review brand marketing designs to ensure accurate and on-brand delivery.
- Understanding marketing initiatives, strategic positioning and target audience.
- Cooperate with the rest of the creative team across different types of media.
- Manage and delegate responsibilities to other designers and provide directions.
- Proficient use of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Jira or other visual design and wire-framing tools.
- Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio.
- Ensuring that all aspects of the campaign align with the needs of the client or company.
UX Management and Design Responsibilities:
- Define how the user experience of the company's products should be, set the values for a good experience, set the values for the UX`s team and define which paths should be followed today and in the future.
- Deliver innovative end-to-end user experiences that meet business objectives and client/consumer needs.
- Identify problems with UX designs and offer suggestions and feedback to resolve them.
- Collaborate with identified stakeholders on projects for the organization, delivering UX design strategy for requested projects.
- Effectively present concepts and designs to internal clients.
- Communicate to stakeholders and supervisors, reporting on successes and obstacles to overcome.
- Bring the perspective of the user (their needs and problems) into the decisions the business makes everyday and advise about what works for the customers and what won’t.
- Create prototypes of digital interfaces to make tangible the proposals design solutions, so the team could understand and test it.
- Evaluate digital interfaces using usability guidelines and best practices for interface design.
- Prioritize, with the stakeholders, the importance for the business of digital interfaces features.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Designer.
- Demonstrated experience developing design and UX strategies across multiple product portfolios.
- A deep understanding of design, usability and research best practices.
- Able to operate in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience as a Marketing Professional.
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships.
- Superior organizational and time-management skills.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about marketing.
