Responsibilities
· Review more advanced tax computations, workpapers, and tax entries
· Assist with the review of partnership allocations, and maintenance of capital accounts on a §704(b) and “inside” tax basis
· Assist with the review of ASC740 accounting for income tax provisions
· Review business tax returns (partnership, multistate, corporate and other)
· Assist with year-end planning and quarterly tax estimates
· Review and assist in researching technical issues
· Proactively manage annual tax compliance engagements, and special projects
· Initiate and manage internal and external client communication
· Address IRS or State Taxing Authority notices and coordinate the preparation of a timely response
· Organize and coordinate clients’ income tax data for accurate and timely completion
· Identify and communicate tax planning ideas with a Manager/Partner
· Assist with billing
· Collaborate cross-departmentally to gather information and resolve client matters
· Demonstrate competency with necessary software
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
CPA License
5+ years of progressively challenging Public Accounting experience
Business tax return review experience (primarily partnership, and multistate corporate)
Understanding of the life cycle of PE and Search Fund owned businesses (formation, operation, sale events)
Understanding of basic tax M&A transactional issues and concepts (i.e. asset vs. stock sale, treatment of transaction costs, etc.)
Familiarity with partnership tax matters (Operating agreements, §704(b) capital accounts, and §704(c) Principles)
Strong computer skills and proficiency in various accounting and other software, including Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with preparing and reviewing partnership allocations in tax software
Strong knowledge of Internal Revenue Code, tax law, and tax processes
Familiarity of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and knowledge of review, compilation, and auditing standards
Ability to creatively solve problems and analyze client data
Ability to effectively delegate, supervise and review work of less experienced staff
