Full Job Description

One of the world’s fastest-growing websites, Tom's Guide upgrades your life by helping you decide what products to buy, showing you how to get the most out of them and get the best deals. From our strong foundation in consumer technology coverage, Tom’s Guide’s primary ambition is to help you leverage the latest products and services to achieve your ultimate goal, whether it’s getting in shape, protecting your kids, being more productive or just having fun.

What you'll be doing...

Tom’s Guide is seeking an experienced writer to help oversee all of our Home office buying guides. This full-time role will entail researching office chairs, standing desks, lamps, and other home office equipment, reviewing those products, and updating our buying guides as needed. Original photography is a bit part of this, so we’re looking for someone with the necessary space for photos and a willingness to switch between different office chairs and desks on a continual basis.

Additionally, you will be expected to write supporting content for those guides, such as comparison pieces, first-person op-eds and other stories that will help inform our readers to make the best choice possible when making a purchase.

This role can also entail on-camera work as we look to include more home office content on our YouTube and TikTok channels. The overall aim of this position is to work with the home office editor to help keep Tom’s Guide as one of the top destinations for authoritative and useful product coverage on the web. If you’re an expert on all things home office with a strong editorial voice, this job is for you!

  • Reviewing home office products for a large audience.
  • Maintaining key buying guides and hubs on home office topics, such as desks, chairs, lamps and more.
  • Writing news, reviews and feature content on home office products.
  • Brainstorming thoughtful analysis and opinion coverage to help Tom’s Guide stand out.
  • Assisting with deals coverage, especially during critical shopping seasons such as Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day.
  • Tracking the performance of Tom’s Guide’s home office coverage and working with the editor to respond to traffic trends as they happen.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve...

  • At least 2 years of experience at an online media outlet
  • A desire to develop and grow our home office content using innovative ideas while keeping abreast of industry developments and trends
  • Experience researching SEO trends and analyzing traffic
  • Proven ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong industry contacts are a major plus
  • Experience promoting stories via cross-linking and social media
  • Ability to take good photos of products
  • Space to test a number of office chairs and desks
