Full Job Description

About the Opportunity

At Skyven Technologies, we have developed a revolutionary heat pump technology to decarbonize industrial heat.  We implement this technology through an innovative Energy-as-a-Service model that saves our customers money with no capital outlay.  We are hiring a Senior Industrial Decarbonization Sales Engineer as a key role on our growing Solutions Architecture team. This is an opportunity to make a real impact at an innovative and growing climate tech company.

Industrial heat is responsible for roughly 20% of global CO2 emissions. That’s roughly equivalent to emissions generated by all transportation (including land, sea, and air) and is a compelling business opportunity – it will take an estimated $3.7 trillion in capital investment to decarbonize the sector by 2050. Skyven is at the forefront of this transformation, and has recently been selected for a $145M investment from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to accelerate the deployment of our state-of-the-art Skyven Arcturus steam-generating heat pumps (SGHPs) at manufacturing facilities nationwide, revolutionizing how we address energy needs while combating climate change.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Industrial Decarbonization Sales Engineer to use their understanding of thermodynamics and industrial facilities to recommend and scope Skyven Arcturus steam-generating heat pump projects. The role requires providing technical support in sales meetings and qualifying customers through high-level analysis, as well as onsite data collection and trust building followed by detailed analysis and project scoping. To be successful in this role, you must be able to have a relationships-first mindset, be detail-oriented, move and learn quickly, have excellent communication skills, and have an entrepreneurial mindset.

To excel in this role, one will demonstrate competency in customer interactions and have the ability to execute multi-disciplinary feasibility analyses for the Arcturus SGHP.

Responsibilities

  • Use engineering first principles and thermodynamic analysis to recommend and scope heat pump projects that balance energy savings with operational and financial consideration for industrial customers
  • Conduct the Arcturus Feasibility Study, focusing on:
    • determining electrical infrastructure requirements
    • analyzing heat source and steam demand variability
    • optimizing heat pump siting based on stakeholder needs and physical constraints, and
    • specifying heat exchanger size, performance, and cost
  • Analyze information from piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), utility bills, equipment specifications, control systems, and other plant data to understand customer processes
  • Quantify thermal energy sources and loads for accurate project assessment
  • Calculate fuel consumption, cost, and marginal cost for industrial plants and equipment
  • Build and foster close relationships with customers, equipment vendors, and design partners
  • Be adept at guiding a customer to agree on the best technical solution when objections persist
  • Actively engage customers to understand their needs and priorities
  • Weigh customer priorities, thermal energy balance, and project economics to determine the ideal project concept for each project
  • Proactively gather grant and incentive information and collaborate with vendors for project quotes
  • Support project management throughout the engineering process to ensure the final engineered design will meet all customer expectations.

Requirements

  • 4+ years engineering experience in the industrial manufacturing space
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • Experience in pre-design and pre-construction of industrial manufacturing equipment and controls
  • Experience working with manufacturing customers, mechanical contractors, and design firms
  • Experience collaborating with internal project management teams

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering
  • Familiarity with grants and incentives
  • Experience with industrial decarbonization and sustainability projects
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset

Benefits

  • Base salary: $80,000 - $125,000
  • Stock options
  • Flexible PTO
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Medical, dental, vision
  • 401k

Location
