Acentra is looking for a Director of Software Quality Assurance to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

The role of the Software Quality Assurance, Director is to use Software Quality Assurance best practices to pursue a zero-defect production environment, continuously improve, and meet or exceed business objectives aligned to quality program delivery. This role helps to lead the Software Quality Assurance team, is a member of the Software Quality Assurance Leadership Team, and reports directly to the VP of Software Quality Assurance. Acentra Health supports a high-volume healthcare data system that is accessed through multiple web portals. This high-volume system operates out of multiple data centers and must reliably be available to its clients 7x24x365.

Job Responsibilities:

Software Quality Assurance:

  • Helps to leads the Software Quality Assurance team and is accountable for the quality of deliverables, customer relationships, test execution, and strategy, working independent of supervision
  • Oversees the Software Quality Assurance process
  • Leads by metrics and provides executive Software Quality Assurance dashboards for projects and releases
  • Uses reusable framework to identify and manage test plans and related artifacts
  • Provides strategic direction across all programs and demonstrates leadership on QA management of resources, cost, risk, and scope
  • Ensures that the Software Quality Assurance team creates traceable test plans and scripts
  • Uses tools and best practices to systematically measure and improve Software Quality Assurance, enforcing process improvements
  • Leads and refines the QA program focused on automation
  • Approves requirements to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and financial risk to quality
  • Ensures team adherence to established controls, standards, and methodologies
  • Approves requirements to identify scope, schedule, and financial risk to quality, and approves mitigation plans to address issues
  • Leads the successful implementation of deliverables, ensuring quality and on-time delivery
  • Manages risk and ensures proper mitigation plans are implemented and communicated appropriately to the customer and team
  • Ensures that constant innovation is encouraged at all aspects of Software Quality Assurance and enforces alignment to industry standards
  • Possesses strong understanding of strategic intent as defined in Acentra Health’s strategic plan
  • Leads transformation and change management initiatives pertaining to the Software Quality Assurance team and Acentra Health’s overall business strategy objectives, working closely with senior management

General:

  • Interfaces with senior management and provides industry insights and best practices
  • Assists with the Software Quality Assurance budget forecast
  • Oversees, monitors, and approves the Software Quality Assurance budget
  • Handles work situations that deal regularly with future business issues, providing recommendations as needed
  • Synthesizes many perspectives or conflicting ideas
  • Assists with formulating the strategic direction for QA and Software Quality Assurance services
  • Ensures that leadership is managed for both direct and dotted-line reporting relationships
  • Communicates a clear vision and goals for the Software Quality Assurance team
  • Translates strategies into current and future action plans
  • Addresses business issues beyond immediate needs
  • Directs resources (people, budgets, technology)
  • Provides oversight of vendors in accordance with the corporate IT vendor management program requirements
  • Maintains awareness of the organization's cultures, influencers, pain points, and opportunities

Customer:

  • Partners with customers and analyzes issues and problems from the customer perspective
  • Oversees and ensures successful customer-facing presentations on quality
  • Manages complex internal and external customer relationships for long-term value
  • Possesses unwavering commitment to customer service and operational excellence, ensuring successful maintenance of client relationships
  • Keeps abreast of new technology and market developments
  • Adheres to Acentra Health’s CMMI standards and processes
  • Participates and represents project in CMMI evaluations

Talent Development:

  • Requests and gives both negative and positive feedback
  • Recruits highly skilled, motivated leaders and individual contributors
  • Encourages and facilitates the development of a significant knowledge base in others
  • Ensures that performance measurements are met, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Oversees performance evaluations and corrective action plans, measuring key performance indicators (KPI) while coordinating with Human Resources
  • Oversees and approves administrative functions related to recruiting, training, nurturing inter-personal skills amongst team members, conducting performance and annual reviews, setting SMART goals, recommending salary increases and adjustments, ensuring timekeeping compliance, and taking disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Ensures appropriate use of all available resources within functional team and ensures proper use of unassigned time
  • Provides direction and mentorship to Software Quality Assurance team

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree with 10-12 years of Software Quality Assurance experience, including 5+ years of technical leadership experience at large complex organizations, including leading centralized or matrixed teams
    • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field
  • Experience with Software Quality Assurance software (such as Rational Quality Manager, HP Quality Center)
  • Experience in test automation (preferably Selenium)
  • Hands-on experience in designing the framework (architect) and implementing processes around automation to meet objectives
  • Experience with formulation, design and rollout of QA and Software Quality Assurance methodologies for both waterfall and agile (such as Scrum, Kanban) software development life cycles
  • Experience as a people manager
  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Test Manager certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and Software Quality Assurance life cycle (STLC)

Technology Skills:

  • Understanding of SharePoint applications, Webex, Skype, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio, Project with a working knowledge of the rest of the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Proficient in data analytics tools (such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Cognos Analytics)
  • Strong understanding of Software Quality Assurance software (such as JIRA, Jenkins, Rational Quality Manager, HP Quality Centre)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Domain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare verticals
  • Ability to partner with senior management and cross-functional teams in implementation of major initiatives
  • Ability to research, devise, and implement organizational and process maturity initiatives
  • High knowledge of ITIL and CMMI process models and concepts
  • General understanding of role-relevant issues and trends
  • Ability to manage people, projects, budgets, administrative tasks, and cost
  • Seasoned experience in a process or a technology leadership role or expert level depth in technical field
  • Ability to use newly acquired expertise to make a strategic impact on processes and business
  • Technical understanding with ability to communicate technical impact, technical solutions, root cause, and corrective actions into business concepts or layman’s terms
  • Project management skills and ability to create and manage others executing to a project plan and agile practices (such as scrum, Kanban) based on the project model
  • Ability to meet deadlines, to conduct and direct research into issues and products, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projects
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and evaluative skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, facilitation) with strong presentation and facilitation skills at all levels in the organization (from individual contributor to executive level)
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively with different teams to gain respect, and to build consensus with superiors, peers, subordinates, and contributors both directly and in a matrix environment.
  • Understanding of the SDLC and STLC
