Site Reliability Engineer (Remote Internship)

As a part of a reliability-focused team you will help exemplify, measure and raise the reliability of products and operational capabilities by creating tools, collaborating with teams, evangelizing best practices and encouraging learning across the organization.

You'll work closely with engineers across many disciplines to advocate for sensible, scalable, systems design and share responsibility with them in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing production issues - we believe strongly that engineering teams take operational responsibility for their products and work hard to support them in this.

Requirements

What you’ll do

• Be an evangelist for SRE best practices throughout the product and engineering organization
• Improve systems observability by introducing new instrumentation such as dashboards, application and system metric capturing, enhanced logging and alerting    
• Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity
• Work closely with product squads to assist them in adopting and improving their use of existing tools and practices such as SLOs, alerting, runbooks, synthetic testing, and general observability
• Monitor user-facing systems using best practices, with reliability and scalability in mind
• Engage with other teams at Perceptyx to evaluate tooling, iterate on our incident response process, and hold effective and blameless postmortems
• Work with engineering teams to debug and fix issues
• Participate in performance tests; identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization, and capacity demands

Who you are

• You are eager to learn fast and to influence people around you in a positive way
• You like to observe and understand systems behavior, to catch inconsistencies, to automate and continuously improve your observability instrumentation   
• You are passionate about reliability practices and excited to help teams improve how they maintain their own reliability
• You work well with cross-functional, agile software development teams
• You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and use them to document your work
• Familiarity with the principles of site reliability engineering, such as eliminating toil, embracing risk, simplicity, and release management is a plus
• Familiarity with and passion for software engineering best practices such as testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery is a plus

Education/Qualifications

• You are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science having completed 1-3 years of relevant education
• Have strong technical skills
• Have a desire to learn and contribute
• Have basic experience with Python, Go or similar 
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Datadog, Terraform is a plus

Program Details:
 

• Will run from for about 12 weeks at $30hr
• Progress towards completion of bachelor's degree by May 2026 / May 2027 You must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship
