About the Center for Hydrogen Safety (CHS)
The American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Center for Hydrogen Safety is a global non-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting hydrogen safety and best practices worldwide. CHS serves as a premier resource for applied hydrogen safety, fostering a vibrant community committed to ensure the safe handling and use of hydrogen across all applications.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Program Associate to join our CHS team. The successful candidate will have technical expertise in hydrogen and hydrogen safety, strong project management skills, and excellent communication and training abilities to implement a wide range of CHS programs and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and refine in-person and virtual safety training programs on hydrogen, both domestically and internationally
- Respond to technical inquiries on hydrogen safety and develop educational content for distribution across various platforms
- Provide technical leadership in the development and revision of eLearning courses and other hydrogen safety educational materials
- Manage, facilitate, and support CHS tasks, projects, working groups, and activities
- Present on hydrogen safety at webinars, conferences, and stakeholder outreach events
- Develop and lead CHS working groups and workshops, including those focused on hydrogen hubs
- Identify, develop, and implement impactful hydrogen safety resources
- Gather and analyze data to evaluate the performance of CHS initiatives
- Support conference, symposium, and workshop organizing committees to ensure cohesive, safety-focused programming
- Regularly engage with CHS members through various communication channels
- Collaborate with cross-functional AIChE and CHS teams
- Support CHS governance committees and strategic planning efforts
- Assist with grant writing and crowdfunding opportunities
- Lead or support other activities requested by the CHS Directors
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in the principles of hydrogen safety
- Strong understanding of the hydrogen industry and associated technologies
- Demonstrated problem-solving, project management, and data analysis skills
- Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication abilities
- Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) and project management tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Smartsheet and Personify software
- Background in leveraging social media platforms for outreach and engagement
Location and Travel:
- This position can be remote or based at our NYC Global Office.
- Travel is expected 4-12 times per year, primarily within the United States but also internationally.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 per year
