This is a fully remote role for candidates who are based outside of the New York Metropolitan area. For those located in the area, we encourage you to consider our hybrid work arrangement (1-2 days a week in our NYC office). At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies.
The Sr. Procurement Manager is responsible for all procurement activities associated with sourcing and purchasing equipment and construction services in support of assigned projects and in alignment with the company policies and procedures. The Sr. Procurement Manager works closely with suppliers and internal clients, such as Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Business Development to support all projects in North America.
What You’ll Do
- 30% RFP Management: Prepares and manages Requests for Proposals including preparation of RFP documents, review of proposals, performing price analysis, schedule review, negotiation of price and contract terms, scope review, and recommendation of selected bidders. Manages negotiation and execution of supplier agreements while working with legal as needed.
- 20% Supplier Sourcing: Identifies suppliers needed to support projects, including in new markets, and manages supplier prequalification process. This includes conducting assessments of supplier capabilities; financial, technical, and commercial strengths, including their competitive advantages in the market. Collaborate with internal teams to review supplier qualifications, such as EH&S, Engineering, and Quality Management.
- 35% Supplier Relationship Management: Performs supplier check-ins; prepares and collaborates with internal teams on supplier scorecards; supports supplier business review meetings; manages supplier improvement plan; manages and updates supplier contact list. Establishes long-term relationships with suppliers by managing and negotiating master agreements.
- 10% Special Initiatives: Conducts change order reviews; supports Legal with the creation of Master Supply Agreements; monitors market trends, new suppliers, and emerging technologies; creates innovative procurement processes and tools and continuously improves processes as needed; researches and proposes cost reduction strategies; manages supplier and pricing database; conducts lessons learned; maintains organized procurement document management system; performs other procurement related duties as assigned by Manager.
- 5% Project Strategy Development: As a critical step of RFP and supplier sourcing management, the Procurement Manager will prepare, develop, and manage Project Procurement Plan of critical equipment and services for assigned projects and business development opportunities, which includes project delivery model, contracting type, bidders list and negotiation strategy. Presents strategy to project stakeholders and management for approval.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, which may include supply chain, business, engineering, construction management, economics or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience
- 5 years performing procurement for an EPC Contractor (engineering, procurement, and construction), electrical contractor, engineer, equipment supplier or project developer
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- A clear understanding of contract language
- Experience in contract and pricing negotiations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to create processes and identify the need for process improvements
- The ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed
- Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and Teams or related software
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a renewable energy field (battery storage, wind or solar) preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills

Base Salary Range: $100,000- $115,000; Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
