Expert Voices Together Senior Manager

Summary:

The Senior Manager position focuses on overseeing and directing the daily operations of the EVT, a comprehensive socio-technical system of care designed to connect experts with trauma-informed support. Leading a team of Care Coordinators, the Senior Manager ensures the creation of personalized care plans tailored to address experts' needs amidst abuse and intimidation.

Responsibilities include assigning experts who apply through the EVT website to specific Care Coordinators, tracking the support provided to these experts, and consulting with coordinators on methods and strategies to effectively assist experts in navigating crises arising from online and hybrid forms of harassment. Additionally, the Senior Manager ensures that the team adheres to established protocols, and fosters a collaborative and supportive working environment for Care Coordinators. The Senior Manager will also engage in outreach work, including building connections within expert communities, maintaining ties to other organizations that can provide support to experts and fostering relationships with funders.  

In addition to managerial duties, the Senior Manager takes on a modified caseload and provides direct support to experts themselves, drawing on the EVT toolkit to identify appropriate resources and working with beneficiaries to create and implement successful care plans. 

Responsibilities

Managerial Responsibilities (60%): 

  • Manage and coordinate the daily operations of the EVT, ensuring the experts receive effective and meaningful support
  • Lead a team of Care Coordinators to deliver personalized care plans that are tailored to address experts' needs (amidst abuse and intimidation) and help to achieve the organization’s overarching mission.
  • Implement and manage an efficient intake form review and screening process 
  • Assign experts applying through the EVT website to specific care coordinators and subsequently track the support provided to assure they receive effective assistance in navigating crises related to online and hybrid forms of harassment.
  • Collaborate with coordinators on methods and strategies to effectively assist experts.
  • Manage and track the upkeep of existing resources for experts and Coordinators ensuring they are relevant, impactful, and aligned with organizational procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to established protocols and cultivate a collaborative and supportive environment for Care Coordinators.
  • Provide support to care coordinators, tracking the overall number of experts receiving support to ensure no Care Coordinator is overburdened. 
  • Monitor Care Coordinators for signs of vicarious trauma or burnout. Provide support and equip Coordinators with resources designed to ensure their well being. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in trauma informed care in the context of online and hybrid forms of harassment in expert communities and ensure Care Coordinators are utilizing these techniques to achieve the organization’s mission. 
  • In partnership with organizational leaders, manage hiring for EVT team members, including Care Coordinators.
  • With organizational leadership, monitor the EVT budget to ensure continued success of the project. 
  • Engage in outreach efforts, building connections within expert communities, maintaining partnerships with support-providing organizations, and fostering relationships with funders as needed and directed by organizational leadership.

Caseload Responsibilities/Care Coordinator Duties (40%):

  • Provide support and assistance to experts via phone calls or text-based communication, ensuring they have the necessary tools to navigate crises precipitated by online harassment.
  • Develop and implement customizable care plans to address the specific needs and concerns of each expert.
  • Maintain regular communication with experts to monitor progress and adjust support plans as needed.
  • Keep detailed and confidential notes of interactions with experts, adhering to security best practices and confidentiality protocols.
  • Provide digital security recommendations to experts designed to secure personal information and minimize risk. 
  • Create crisis response plans with experts to equip them to navigate moments of high stress, including recommendations for mobilizing their support system, grounding techniques to help manage stress and guidelines on how to assess risk. 
  • Advise experts on effective communication strategies with colleagues, friends, and family members to explain their situation and gain support.
  • Explore options for responding to abuse while minimizing risks and maintaining personal and professional integrity.

Job Specifications: 

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Environment: Remote, with some travel required

Reports to: President of Right To Be

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manager of EVT department employees

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization (such as social work, psychology, or public policy) or a related industry certification. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 4+ years relevant experience in a crisis response or case management position. 
  • Previous experience in case management, crisis intervention, or related field, preferably in a nonprofit or advocacy organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of effectively managing teams and driving short-term and long-term results.
  • Proficiency in digital security and familiarity with online platforms and tools such as Google Workspace.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and sensitivity when working with individuals experiencing trauma and crisis.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, ethics, and credibility with the ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and situations.
  • Experience with trauma informed methodologies, EVT around care, and case management

The compensation for this role is $85,250 annually.
