Pepper’s mission is to inspire the entire world to embrace the flat in flattering. We’re looking for a Sr. Director of Growth & Retention Marketing to help achieve that mission by acquiring and retaining the highest quality of customers through an array of multi-channel marketing touchpoints that will ultimately make Pepper a household name and an indispensable part of our customers’ top-drawer shopping journey. 

The ideal candidate is a data-driven and creative marketing leader who knows how to drive strategy through execution. They have a deep understanding of both Growth and CRM marketing strategies and are exceptional at driving both parts of the LTV to CAC ratio to ensure we’re profitably growing the brand in the most scalable and sustainable way. 

This role will be responsible for driving new customer growth through Paid Social, Google, Video (OTT, TV, YT), Print, and Affiliates as well as returning customer value through Email, SMS, Direct Mail, In-box marketing collateral and Loyalty Program.  They will be the key champion and owner of LTV/CAC ratios, Retention Rates, and Customer Lifetime Value.

What You’ll Do:

  • Budget & Media Mix Management:  Partner with CMO to own Pepper’s multi-million dollar media budget and drive media mix decisions to optimize for the strongest LTV to CAC ratio and ROAS. Drive multi-pronged measurement techniques across lift testing, MTA and exploring MMM models to measure incrementality of each channel and continuously improve ROAS of marketing spend. 
  • Growth Marketing: Lead the Growth/Acquisition Marketing team (in-house and agencies) to acquire the highest quality of new customers at the most efficient contribution margin CAC. Continuously advocate for innovation and testing new strategies across Paid Social, Google, Video (OTT, TV, YT), Print, and Affiliates.
  • Content Engine: Creative storyteller who knows how to use customer insights and product knowledge to inspire the ongoing creation and testing of new acquisition and retention marketing content. Skillful in driving the most efficient processes to rapidly test high volume of creative content in design and copy to fuel Pepper’s UGC and branded content marketing machine.
  • Retention Marketing: Lead the Retention/CRM Marketing team to retain and nurture Pepper customers to become the most loyal advocates of the brand. Adept at driving multi-channel marketing strategies to orchestrate meaningful customer journeys that blur the lines of service and marketing, resulting in the highest RFM and LTV from each customer.
  • Customer Strategy: Passionate and skilled at turning transactional data into meaningful customer cohorts (e.g. deciles, LTV or RFM tiers, personas, lifecycle stages, etc.) to drive insights to inform new marketing programs and accelerate the growth of our new and returning customer value to the business. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Skillful in working cross-functionally with a variety of teams including Finance, Planning and Merchandising, and strategizing new and innovative ways to connect with our customers. Constantly looking for feedback and open to inspiration from others to create engagement points that align with brand values and drive success.   
  • Technology/Vendor Management: Own the evaluation and ongoing maximization of value/ROI we derive from each Growth & CRM platform and vendors. Savvy in understanding the latest technology trends in the space and adept at managing our marketing techstack holistically.
  • Team Management: A passionate and thoughtful manager to team members who knows how to inspire individuals to be at their best, and encourage their growth through thoughtful feedback and ongoing coaching/support and advocacy.

Requirements

  • Passionate about Pepper’s mission to redefine body standards and lives Pepper’s brand and ethos
  • 10+ years of Growth & Retention Marketing experience at fast-growing, beloved DTC consumer brands with high SKU count
  • Proven ability to bridge Growth & Retention Marketing teams’ performance to optimize profit-focused KPIs impacting company’s bottom-line metrics
  • Strong financial acumen and with deep experience in forecasting budgets/sales at channel and inventory levels
  • A strong balance of right and left brain: Highly creative marketing storyteller with the ability to use insights and data to drive business decisions
  • Ability to set strategic plans at a macro level, distill into clear roadmap with milestones, and drive execution with operational excellence. 
  • Goal-oriented, cool under pressure and strives for continuous improvement
  • Thrives in fast-paced startup environments and comfortable rolling up sleeves
  • Strong organizational, communication and project management skills
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership
