Position Information
SEARCH has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Accounting/Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. This position is remote capable or may be based out of one of our offices should the candidate be local with office preference. This role will be responsible for managing general ledger activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and overseeing the company’s payroll processes. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and proficiency in accounting principles and payroll procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll accurately and timely, including tax withholdings, deductions and benefits.
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns and other statutory filings.
- Respond to employee inquiries about payroll and benefit deductions.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accuracy of employee records and compliance with employment regulations.
- Assist in financial audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll and accounting functions.
- Continue education in accounting standards, tax laws and payroll regulations.
- Coordinate payroll entries/transactions in Costpoint and Time and Expense system, including posting labor and leave and running of payroll reports.
- Manage and submit 401K file to Empower for each payroll period.
- Ensure employees’ weekly timesheets are complete and correct.
- Review and reconcile monthly bank accounts.
- Maintain and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts and prepare monthly entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, HR or related field.
- Proven experience in general ledger accounting and payroll administration required.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Detail oriented, organized, able to work well on simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professional discretion.
Qualifications Preferred:
- Understanding of the Cultural Resource Management (CRM) industry (firms, clients, contracts, new research, and projects) at the regionwide, nationwide, and worldwide level.
- Proficient in Deltek Costpoint accounting software required.
- Experience working for a Federal Contractor preferred.
- Experience in ADP payroll processing preferred.
