Flexcompute is excited to announce a unique opportunity for a Research Scientist Intern specializing in electromagnetic simulations. As an intern, you will work alongside our team of scientists and engineers developing cutting-edge simulation tools and software solutions across various domains, including numerical algorithms, optimization and inverse design, and software engineering practices such as documentation and CI/CD pipeline development.
This role offers exposure to the practical aspects of building world-class software tools, while allowing you to innovate and apply your unique perspective to solve complex problems in photonics. You will enhance your software engineering and problem-solving skills and have the chance to make a significant impact in a small, collaborative team where every contribution matters.
Requirements
Required:
- Pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field with a focus on computational methods in electromagnetics or related field.
- Solid understanding of mathematical concepts and proficiency in numerical simulations.
- Excellent programming skills, particularly in Python.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with electromagnetic simulation tools.
- Experience with numerical algorithms, optimization techniques, or inverse design methods.
- Familiarity with software development practices, including documentation, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with open source, collaborative code development.
- Development of high performance numerical code in C++ or similar languages.
