Job Title: Release Manager.
Department: APP-IT.
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer
Experience Required: At least 4 years working as a Release Manager in a SaaS environment.
Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000.
Supervisory/Training Responsibilities: This role does not supervise/manage others. This is an Individual Contributor role with expectations below.
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM ET.
Job Location: Remote in the United States*.
Job Overview
The Release Manager will coordinate with different SmartCommerce teams to ensure the smooth operations of day-to-day release processes for the company’s Software as a Service (SaaS) products. The Release Manager is also accountable for ensuring that appropriate communication of release activities has been communicated throughout the company so that stakeholders and customers are properly informed of upcoming and executed system changes.

Responsibilities and Duties Required:
Some of your Key Responsibilities will Include:
- Responsible for planning and scheduling software releases and coordinating the release schedule.
- Work with Project Managers, Marketing, Product, Operations and Engineering to identify any risks that could delay the release and manage them, to ensure there is no impact on the integrity of the scheduled release and quality of the release.
- Chair weekly release meetings to coordinate, ensure there is an allocation of personnel for every release, prioritize and schedule upcoming releases.
- Schedule release readiness reviews prior to deployment and milestone reviews after each release.
- Create plans for the implementation and deployment as per the release schedule and provide weekly updates on the release activities.
- Schedule and run meetings to discuss release schedules with the teams and ensure there aren’t any roadblocks between releases.
- Initiate and drive discussions to recognize potential impacts and downstream dependencies between releases that could negatively affect production.
- Work with technical leads and stakeholders to prioritize and sequence release tasks based on their criticality and impact on the overall release process and value to the business.
- Be available for on-call notifications of customer-impacting issues leading up to release deployments (Emergency Change Management).
- Foster open communication between development, QA, operations, and other relevant teams to maintain alignment and visibility throughout the release cycle.
- Work with the Engineering team and other teams on the release management process to ensure they understand and follow established protocols (quality testing, performance testing, security impact assessments, backwards compatibility, etc.).
- The release manager will oversee the process and update where applicable.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

What you offer…
- You have a minimum of 4+ years working as a Release Manager in a SaaS environment.
- You have at least 4+ years of experience with Change Management processes.
- You hold a high degree of technical knowledge of software development and deployment.
- You have had exposure to and basic understanding of DevOps and continuous integration and development (CI/CD) processes.
- You possess a thorough understanding of the SDLC and the ability to apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment that supports releases for both long, complex projects planned months in advance and fast turnaround releases planned days or hours in advance.
- You are equipped with a solid understanding of software releases, product development, application infrastructure, system architectures, and operating systems.
- You have outstanding attention to detail, organizational, communication, and relationship building skills conducive to driving consensus.
- You bring effective project management and change management experience.
- You have an ability to operate in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
- You have analytical and quantitative skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
- You possess a Bachelor's Degree or Associate’s Degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering or Networking or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Proficiency with JIRA, Slack, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and Figma and release management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Can self-manage work from start to finish.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
