Print Production Coordinator

The Print Production Coordinator is responsible for all manufacturing aspects of the physical book process and for managing the relationships with printers. This role works with the editorial and production teams to guide the selection of printing specifications and to identify and address any production issues. This role must demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to work together with diverse teams, maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the book manufacturing process, and work with external vendors to deliver finished products as scheduled.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to interact with editorial, design, production, and logistics staff on a daily basis in a remote environment.
• Obtain paper and print samples. Route printer proofs to appropriate personnel.
• Responsible for providing manufacturing cost estimates for the potential development of new titles, reprints, and custom publishing opportunities.
• Assist in the selection of printing specifications, cover and end sheet materials, and printer options with creative teams.
• Tracks and reports all changes in manufacturing costs against approved purchase orders for each title.
• Monitors and keeps to a minimum all changes done at the printer once a file has been released from the editorial team.
• Liaison between the teams and the print vendors to establish print schedules and address any delays with the print vendors.
• Accurately track and document print specs for each product.
• Organize the final files in our asset management system.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in the book manufacturing process.
• Strong communications and organizational skills and extensive knowledge of paper specifications and sourcing.
• Experience in the graphic industry with a broad knowledge of computers, design, layout, and current printing technologies preferred (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Experience in managing manufacturing book projects in a high-volume operation to deliver quality products in a timely manner.
