Who We Are
Excellence Community Schools (ECS) is a non-profit Charter Management Organization (CMO) supporting a growing network of schools in the Bronx, NY and Stamford, CT. Our programs are based on a proven, nationally recognized model, which originated in our flagship school, the Bronx Charter School for Excellence, a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School.

Our schools prepare young scholars to compete for admission to and succeed in top public, private, and parochial high schools by cultivating their intellectual, artistic, social, emotional, and ethical development. We accomplish this by offering a challenging and rigorous academic curriculum, which at the earliest of grades has an eye toward college preparation. To achieve this, our schools create a supportive and caring environment that always has high expectations of all students.
Who We Need
We are searching for a results-oriented, experienced, Porters who will support the Facilities and Maintenance Team in cleaning and maintaining the school’s buildings and systems, including but not limited to walls, flooring materials, ceilings, toilet rooms, radiator and vent covers, plumbing, electric and fire detection systems, furniture and equipment. In addition, packing, unpacking and moving boxes, furniture and equipment throughout as assigned, as well as assisting with diverse departmental needs.
Specific Duties:
1. Cleaning- Responsible for utilizing the best techniques to clean and maintain all of the areas summarized above to a level consistent with the high standards of the School.
2. Moving & Set-ups -Responsible for moving and/or arranging furniture, equipment, deliveries, and boxes, throughout as necessary, with care and concern for the items being handled, the finishes surrounding the work, noise, and timeliness.
3. Paint, Maintenance & Repairs-Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the building by assisting in painting and repair work as directed, and reporting to the Supervisor all maintenance and repairs as needed, including but not limited to dangerous conditions that may exist in the building, stained or broken ceiling tiles, light fixtures, broken furniture, etc.
Requirements
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
All work must be performed in a timely manner and at a level consistent with the high standards and needs of the School. Must be familiar with all chemicals and tools necessary in the execution of the work.
Must have ability to interact positively with Supervisors and co-workers, and work well in a team environment. Must be flexible with work and work schedules.
Must be friendly, courteous, polite, able to communicate well with others, and to offer help when assistance is needed.
