Full Job Description

Our Home is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented Manager, Packaging Purchasing to join our Procurement team. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Manager, Packaging Purchasing will be responsible for managing the end-to-end packaging materials purchasing process and ensuring the timely delivery of packaging supplies to Our Home’s manufacturing locations. The Manager, Packaging Purchasing will negotiate contracts with packaging suppliers, maintain supplier relationships, and identify cost-saving opportunities in the packaging supply chain. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of packaging materials and their specifications. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic partnerships with packaging suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of quality packaging materials at competitive prices. 
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable delivery terms. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Commercialization, and Supply Chain to align packaging purchasing goals with business objectives. 
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency. 
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and performance metrics. 
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in packaging materials and technologies.
  • Maintain relationships with packaging vendors to ensure high level of service routinely provided.
  • Works closely with Marketing and Commercialization Teams on packaging-related changes – providing guidance on material lead time, material availability, and closely monitors inventory levels to support effective ramp down of future inactive packaging designs
  • Balance inventory storage at packaging production facilities, as well as internal manufacturing network/warehouse locations to avoid disruptions and minimize storage costs for the business

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in packaging purchasing or procurement roles, preferably in the food manufacturing industry. 
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Knowledge of packaging materials and their specifications. 
  • Familiarity with supplier management and continuous improvement methodologies. 
  • A detail-oriented and strategic thinker who can manage the end-to-end packaging purchasing process. 
  • An excellent communicator and negotiator who can build strong supplier relationships. 
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Knowledgeable about packaging materials and their specifications. 
  • Passionate about driving continuous improvement in the supply chain. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and operate with agility
