POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance & Training Program Manager to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive maintenance qualification and training program. This role will focus on standardizing maintenance procedures across our data centers and support the insourcing of key maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will design maintenance scopes, develop training content, and ensure all technicians are fully qualified to maintain and operate data center equipment effectively and safely.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Development: Design and implement a standardized maintenance qualification and training program to ensure safe, compliant, and uniform maintenance practices across all data center sites.
- Scope Development: Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop detailed maintenance scopes for various data center equipment, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and critical infrastructure systems.
- Training Material Creation: Oversee the creation and delivery of technical training content (manuals, procedures, online modules) for operations personnel, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Maintenance Standardization: Lead the initiative to insource maintenance activities by establishing clear standards and qualifications for internal teams.
- Certification & Qualification: Develop and manage technician certification programs, ensuring all team members maintain and meet established qualification levels before performing critical maintenance activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and update training and qualification programs and materials to stay current with technological advancements, operational needs, and regulatory changes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data center managers, maintenance teams, and external vendors to ensure training programs are comprehensive and meet operational demands.
- Performance Monitoring: Track technician performance and compliance with training programs, offering feedback and additional support where needed.
- Risk Management & Safety: Ensure all training programs emphasize operational safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of training materials, certification records, and qualification statuses, providing reports to senior management as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical management, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- 8+ years of experience in data center operations, maintenance, or training program development.
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure systems, including electrical, mechanical, Security, and HVAC systems.
- Proven experience in developing training programs and maintenance procedures in a technical or industrial environment.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with experience in presenting technical content to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA, OSHA, and ANSI.
- Proficiency in creating training materials and documentation using digital tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in data center operations or mission-critical environments.
- Experience with insourcing maintenance functions or transitioning from outsourced to in-house teams.
- Certifications in relevant technical fields (e.g., Certified Data Center Technician, Project Management Professional).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/CONSIDERATIONS:
- Work at heights and from ladders.
- Perform physical tasks, including but not limited to moving heavy equipment (50 pounds), operating critical infrastructure, crawling in tight spaces.
- Work in a noisy environment with ear protection and eye protection.
- Work in critical environment with potential for high stress decision making.
- Lift up to 50lbs
The pay range for this role is between $130,000- $175,000 (base). Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related reasons.
