As we continue our growth trajectory, we seek a passionate Integrated Photonics Application Engineer to be the face of PhotonForge, our brand-new photonics design automation engine, helping our EM simulation and design products dominate both academic and industry markets.

Role Overview

As an Integrated Photonics Application Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in driving the adoption and success of PhotonForge in academic and industry settings in the US as well as worldwide. You’ll develop application examples and user guides for PhotonForge features, while helping users leverage its full capabilities to achieve their design goals, building strong relationships with researchers, professors, industry professionals, and students.

This role is ideal for someone who has a strong background in integrated photonics design cycle, covering simulation, fabrication, and measurement. We are looking for individuals who thrives in problem-solving and engaging with people. Technical background in electromagnetics and programming experience in Python are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer support to help users leverage our full suite of solvers and design tools for their application needs, and supporting them in creating solutions tailored to their applications.
  • Build and maintain user guides and full application examples to continually showcase PhotonForge features and development.
  • Gather feedback from users to inform product development and improve the user experience.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to identify outreach opportunities and align efforts.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training materials and online tutorials.

Requirements

  • A degree in physics, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience in integrated photonics products life-cycle, including design, simulation, layout, tape-out, and validation. Experience with integrated photonics fabrication and testing are a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to model, simulate, and analyze complex multi-physics simulation problems.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and experience with relevant libraries for scientific computing and numerical analysis, such as NumPy, SciPy, and Matplotlib.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with the community of users and deliver high quality documentation.
  • Experience in using Tidy3D and other Flexcompute products is preferred.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN, etc.) is desirable.
