Basic Function
The Insurance and Risk Manager is responsible for managing the organization’s insurance policies and assisting the organization to assess and manage its risk. This role may include developing appropriate policies, conducting risk assessments, leading compliance related projects and reviews and developing and implementing training and organisational awareness programs to reduce risk.
Primary Accountabilities:
Insurance
· Managing the procurement and renewal of insurance coverage, including leading insurance RFPs and conducting market research
· Assess the organization’s insurance needs and identify appropriate coverage options while minimizing costs.
· Liaising with Insurance Brokers and relevant members of the business and operational teams on insurance matters
· Handle and process insurance claims
· Maintain records of all insurance policies and claims
· Ensure compliance with requirements of insurance policies and contractual and legal insurance requirements.
· Manage certificates of insurance, including COIs provided by vendors
Risk
· Identifying organizational risks and developing mitigation strategies
· Monitor effectiveness of risk management strategies
· Lead compliance reviews and projects to reduce organizational risk
· Conduct organizational risk awareness and training
· Support internal departments on compliance and risk management matters
· Prepare reports for senior management
Requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, law or other related field preferred.
· Relevant professional certification preferred (e.g. CRM)
· Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the ground transportation industry
· Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and insurance practices
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· May be remote within North America. Occasional travel may be required.
