Full Job Description

Primary Purpose: As Head of Content, Well + Good you will lead brand vision, editorial strategies, and audience growth across all channels and platforms, operate as a brand steward both internally and externally, and define and build the long term path of World of Good Brands’ health and wellness programming. This role requires a deep understanding of digital brand building, will set the standard for thoughtful leadership and W+G team mentorship, and is expected to build and embody company values at all times. 

This role will:

  • Drive creative vision, creative mentorship, and a deeply creative team: The Head of Content is expected to lead brand vision, showcase world-class people leadership skills, and have a proven track record building brands and thought leadership across media and health and wellness. You’ll bring your editorial direction to life through editorial calendars, expert networks, talent and people strategies, and new products and offerings across channels — all with an eye on bottom-line impact. 
  • Build our brands’ audience and relevance: The Head of Content is expected to deeply understand the competitive editorial and audience landscape, and work cross functionally to identify and pursue the best opportunities for building audience and relevance. You will drive our brand forward, advise on audience and team strategies for audience growth and loyalty and inclusion and equity, and be a key partner with our direct sales and commerce teams to drive the brands and businesses forward.
  • Grow sustainable businesses for our brands: The Head of Content will work alongside the company’s business leaders and brand leads to set business strategy, identify new opportunities, and meet and exceed revenue goals.

Responsible for:

  • Building and rolling out a strategic vision and growth plan for W+G’s editorial strategy across channels and platforms. 
  • Owning long term and day to day programming direction for WGB’s Wellness and Health categories, including direct guidance of new content and tentpoles as well as always-on archive management. 
  • As lead of W+G, you will be responsible for delivering sold .com programs as well as site sessions and programmatic AOP, commerce revenue, and SEO growth. You will be accountable for your brands’ publishing models and AOP and accountable for driving strategic intervention as needed. 
  • Prioritizing and integrating equity strategies into people, culture and programming opportunities across brands at WGB.
  • Leveraging performance data and ROI insights to hone your creative strategies for impact.
  • Developing the programs and products that bring each brand to life—and collaborating with direct sales to ensure maximum ROI on strategies and solutions.
  • Leading the best-in-class editorial teams across brands, and partnering with audience dev, commerce, sales, PR, and product teams to deliver your business plan.
  • Continuously monitoring and analyzing industry trends, cultural conversations in the health & wellness space and the competitive landscape to identify and define concepts for creative innovation.
  • Innovating on full-funnel content strategies in partnership with BP, SEO, and audience development.
  • Contributing to regular leadership meetings and company-wide presentations.
  • Representing WGB as a thought leader in the industry.

What does success look like:

  • You’ll drive meaningful audience growth — building audience retention and improved sessions and building out new revenue streams in partnership with the Brand President and Head of Growth.  
  • You’ll establish a lock-step partnership with Commerce and BP teams to align creative and programming strategies with monetization for the highest possible impact for the business.
  • You’ll lead the teams developing rich cross-platform packages and initiatives that deliver for brand partners and bring the brands to life across channels.
  • You’ll drive forward the brand mission and core value of equity and inclusion in key categories, and bring those aspects to life through new strategies.
  • You’ll develop internal talent and bring new voices and perspectives into the dialogue across brands in a way that helps to reshape the cultural conversations in these categories.
  • You’ll develop content strategies across platforms that drive and lead the cultural conversations in health, fitness, and wellness, and build brand equity for Well+Good.
  • You’ll build and develop creative teams who embrace the brand missions and experiment with innovative new editorial strategies across platforms.
  • You’ll contribute to establishing a high-performing, business-minded creative culture at WGB, and generate energy and enthusiasm from your peers and team.
  • You’ll question existing norms, challenge what’s possible, and introduce new ideas and ways of thinking that are exemplified in growth strategies and creative output.
  • Partnering with CEO, Head of Growth, and President on QBR and quarterly and yearly planning across brand and commerce

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in media and content strategy, specifically commerce and product background
  • Proven executive leadership, business acumen, and step in and lead mentality
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Deep understanding of digital trends and consumer behavior
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities
  • Creative thinker that’s passionate about positive impact
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Compensation:

The starting base pay for this role is between USD $160,000 and USD $180,000, plus commission. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, and other perks.
