About the role

As a Development Manager, you are responsible for leading and contributing to our SaaS-based web solution that drives the company's core business. You are overseeing a team responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, maintaining and supporting both new and existing features and products. As the leader of the team, you are fostering collaboration, innovation and productivity within a team of developers in order to provide value to our customers. Reporting directly to the CTO, you are working closely together to align your team’s efforts with the company’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and direct a team of skilled developers
  • Interview, hire and train talented developers to join the team
  • Maintain high development standards for the team
  • Maintain and groom project backlogs and ensure projects are delivered on time and of the highest quality
  • Deliver reports and proposals to upper management
  • Support the creation and execution of the company’s product roadmap and strategic plans
  • Keep up to date on web developments and trends
  • Proactively research latest technologies and advise on usability to the development team
  • Maintain technical relationships with partners and vendors
  • Collaborate with other teams both inside and outside your main department
  • Support a team that will:
    • Analyze user needs and workflows to create easy to use interfaces
    • Create back-end code and connect to third party APIs (SOAP/RESTful)
    • Design, write, and maintain high quality software
    • Develop new products and add new functionality to existing software systems

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software development and leading a team
  • Proven experience in project management, including aligning projects with organizational goals
  • Experience leading and directing the work of other employees and a passion for encouraging and supporting the work of others
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Deep understanding of how software functions and is developed
  • Understanding of Microservice Architecture, SOAP and RESTful Web Services, Testing Frameworks and best practices as well as Git
  • Agile Methodologies
  • Full Stack Software Development and Relational Database performance and query tuning a plus
