As a valued member of our team, you will step into the role of Cost Accountant. Your keen eye for detail and expertise in cost analysis will be essential in providing accurate and timely cost accounting information for effective financial decision-making. Your responsibilities will encompass analyzing cost variances, conducting comprehensive cost audits, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, your insights and recommendations will help drive operational efficiency and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the accounting team to support government contracts, applying knowledge of FAR Part 31 and GAAP
  • Conduct cost audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Identify and investigate cost optimization opportunities and provide recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and division policies in reviewing travel expenses.
  • Work closely with the Controller during government accounting audits conducted by DCAA.
  • Support End-of-Month (EOM) close and prepare required supporting documentation.
  • Train the accounting team on the interplay between GAAP, FAR, and JTR and how to apply them to all transactions within the Federal division.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in government contracting with DCAA/DCMA or government contractor.
  • Experience and working knowledge of FAR, CAS, GAAP and other regulations specific to government contracting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 F&O system is a plus
  • Cost accounting software experience (Microsoft D365 F&O, Deltek Cost Point, Jamis Prime ERP, or other similar software)
  • Cost Accounting system implementation experience a great asset.
  • In-depth understanding of overhead rates and their calculations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to adapt to various systems.
  • Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.

Compensation at Phillips is based on the market and your individual level of contribution. The expected pay range for a qualified person in this role is between $90,000.00 and $110,000.00 annually plus bonus opportunities.
