Job Title: Goose Protocol Expert (Contract Position)

Location: Remote (United States)

This is a temporary, contract opportunity available on a 1099 basis.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Goose Protocol Expert for a contract position with our innovative team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with the GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented Substation Event) protocol. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and secure implementation and maintenance of GOOSE-based systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Design and Implementation: Design, develop, and implement GOOSE-based communication systems for substation automation.
• Configuration and Testing: Configure GOOSE messaging and test systems for compliance and performance standards.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve issues related to GOOSE protocol communications, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Documentation: Develop detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and IT staff, to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and support to internal teams and clients on GOOSE protocol and related technologies.

Requirements

• Experience: Must have experience with GOOSE protocol and substation automation systems.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in IEC 61850 standards, network communication, and protection relays.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Adaptability: Ability to work independently and adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.
