Role Overview

Greenbacker Capital is seeking a Director of Strategic Operations to drive efficiency within the IPP. This includes Greenbacker’s current objective of increasing data access and availability within the organization. The Director of Strategic Operations will also take on projects to improve internal processes, automate workflow, and create actionable insights from our data collection. The correct candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, a love for data analysis and research, and a strong desire to work in a renewable energy company positioning itself for rapid growth and diversification of revenue. This role will report to the VP - of Operations and other members of a newly formed strategy team to imagine, plan, implement, and optimize the company's strategic initiatives.

A successful Director of Strategic Operations candidate will thrive working in a high-yield environment on a team of the highest caliber professionals while maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration or Engineering.
  • The director of Strategic Operations is expected to have expertise or background in one or more of the following disciplines: business, technology, project management, finance, engineering, or operations.
  • 3+ years in renewable energy is strongly desired.
  • 5+ years of working in data analytics is strongly desired.
  • 5+ years in a financial role is strongly desired.
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills are required.
  • The ability to think clearly and fairly in high-pressure situations is required.
  • A strong enthusiasm for effectively leveraging business technology is essential.
  • Great attitude, energy, and ambition are paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead projects to develop and refine opportunities within the IPP for additional revenue streams, including but not limited to;

  • Evaluate opportunities for our fleet in the capacity market.
  • Building out REC trading as a third-party platform.
  • Researching and developing our model for third-party Asset Management services.
  • Development as a business with an eye toward selling assets into the market.
  • Mining the existing fleet for potential asset sale opportunities.

2. Understand and relay data and analytics:

  • Work closely with our Technology teams to help shape the outcome of our data warehouse project.
  • Ensure easy access to the data and proper use/validation.
  • Leverage Power BI to create tailored Dashboards for different departments across the company. Keep these updated and relevant as business needs evolve.
  • Gather financial data to help drive decision-making on a Project and company-wide level.

3. Help with KPI development:

  • Leverage access to data to define and monitor KPIs to give visibility to company-wide goals.
  • Give live insight/feedback to key stakeholders on progress with KPI and suggest potential ways to adapt.

4. Create financial models as necessary to support new business ventures or Project-specific alterations.

5. Understand company financials and work closely with FP&A on budget and revenue models.

  • Interface with FP&A to refine views into financial reporting, focusing on leveraging the most impactful data for operating the fleet.
  • Act as interface between Operations personnel and FP&A, focusing on driving the decision-making for the Operations personnel.
  • Identify and create plans to execute on cost savings and revenue-generating opportunities found within the P&L.

6. Assist in various data acquisition and analysis projects as directed by the COO.

7. Ability to adapt and take on additional responsibilities as necessary.
