Full Job Description
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller is responsible for leading all aspects of Ignite’s finance & accounting function, including day to day accounting, financial reporting, indirect cost rate development and reporting (incurred cost submission), budgeting, KPI development and tracking, and ownership of the Company’s ERP (Unanet).
In this regard, the Controller will supervise and work closely with all outsourced and insourced accounting functions to ensure the timely and accurate processing of information. This includes ensuring that Ignite is accurately executing, tracking, and reporting its activity at the corporate, program, and individual contract level. The Controller will also be responsible for identifying and implementing the accounting and financial procedures that support the Company’s ongoing growth.

Requirements
Ignite is seeking a senior level Controller to lead all aspects of its finance & accounting function, including day to day accounting, financial reporting, indirect cost rate development and reporting (incurred cost submission), budgeting, KPI development and tracking, and ownership of the Company’s ERP (Unanet). The Controller will also be responsible for managing the Company’s contracts and office administration functions and running the company’s Monthly Business Review process. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate must be able to be both hands on as well as effectively serve as a key member of the Company’s management team, providing key insights and guidance as may be warranted. The Controller will supervise and manage internal and external resources to ensure a timely and accurate monthly close and financial reporting process. This includes ensuring that Ignite is accurately executing, tracking, and reporting its activity at the corporate, program, and individual contract level. The Controller will also be responsible for identifying and implementing the accounting and financial policies, procedures and controls that support the Company’s ongoing growth.

Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the Finance team, including outsourced and insourced personnel across all support functions inclusive of AR (billing), revenue recognition, AP, GL maintenance and update, etc.
- Take ownership for review of all data prepared by the outsourced accounting team.
- Oversee and manage the Contracts and office administration functions of the Company, providing support and direction as may be warranted.
- Develop and provide strong Monthly Business Reviews in support of organization goals and objectives, KPIs, budget v. actual reporting, etc.
- Take a lead role in the annual budgeting/forecasting process, inclusive of indirect cost rate development and variance reporting.
- Own backlog and waterfall reporting, ensuring timely provision of associated reporting as part of the Monthly Business Review.
- Help manage relationships with the Company’s auditors, tax advisors, and industry specialists in the areas of accounting, tax, and banking. The Controller will own the audit process and take a lead role in ensuring timely provision of data and management of the overall audit process.
- Own the Company’s ERP, making sure that data is tracked and reported to facilitate compliance with all applicable government regulations (FAR, etc.) and that the Company’s accounting system and associated documentation is sufficient to ensure the ongoing adequacy of the Company’s accounting system.
- Assume a lead role with the DCAA on any incurred cost, system, or other audits as may be warranted.
- Manage and mentor all direct reports.
- Requirements and Skills
- Proven working experience as a Controller for a government contractor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to oversee and develop talent within their organization.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting from an accredited university CPA required
- 9+ years of progressive experience, with at least 5 years of experience working in the government contracting space and 3 plus years as a Controller for a federal government contractor.
- Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), be familiar with government cost accounting regulations and cost principles and the FAR.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willingness to be hands on and roll up your sleeves as needed.
- Prior experience overseeing the contracts’ function.
- Sound financial judgment and perspective, and the ability to effectively communicate and share complex ideas and concepts.
