Our Home is one of the fastest growing Better For You food brands in the country and this explosive growth requires a need to build strong relationships with retailers and their stores while working with our brokers, distributors, and merchandisers to have best in class retail execution.
The Business Development Manager - Eastern US is responsible for growing and managing retail accounts, building relationships, and ensuring flawless retail execution within the grocery customers in their area. This role is responsible for selling and marketing all products under the Our Home brand.
Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, a strong collaborator, has great organization and communication skills, can work independently, and is hungry to grow a new brand in a new territory.
Responsibilities
- Account Management
- Report to and work with VP East to understand scope of retailer accounts.
- Create and maintain exceptional relationships with assigned retail accounts
- Manage grocery distributors, brokers, merchandisers, and DSD network for natural and conventional Independents
- Present the brand, new products and opportunities to accounts to achieve revenue and trade goals
- Develop promotional programs and opportunities to drive off-shelf commitments to achieve revenue and trade goals
- Ensure execution of new product launches, new items, shelf presence, price and promotions
- Retail Execution
- Build strong relationships with merchandising, broker, and retail partners, Including DSD network
- Perform store visits and audits to establish strong relationships and brand presence in the market.
- Effectively manage and communicate frequently with brokers and partners to understand our presence in the market. (Distribution, voids, out of stocks, inventory levels, pricing, promotions, display compliance, competitor insights, etc)
- Leverage internal insight and share with brokers and merchandisers to elevate Our Home’s presence on shelf
- Communicate field insights to Our Home sales/marketing/merchandising teams and necessary cross-functional teams
- Regularly utilize and optimize merchandising CRM systems to track and achieve retail execution goals.
- Cross Functional
- Collaborate with VP in designated region to align strategy and maximize opportunities for their area.
- Collaborate with Finance and Revenue Management team to understand trade budget and achieve trade goals.
- Collaborate with Sales Operations to understand market data, elevate Our Home’s presence on shelf and prepare for retailer meetings.
- Work with Marketing team in designated region to assist with and coordinate demos, events, industry opportunities, etc.
- Actively participate in trade shows and customer shows
- Maintain excellent customer and Our Home employee interdepartmental relationships
Requirements
- Positive attitude, a thirst for knowledge, and an excitement for growing our business
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 2+ years of experience in retail sales, account management, and/or merchandising in the grocery industry
- Knowledge and passion for natural and non-GMO food
- Excellent communication skills with external customers, peers, supervisors, and internal supporting departments
- Has a home office and is able to work independently and remotely
- Proven integrity in life/employment and honesty in dealings with others
- Ideal to have established relationships with retailers within area
- Ability to travel weekly for customer calls and meetings, DSD work-withs, retail blitz. Occasional and event related weekend work is required
- Reside in managed territory and have access to a car
