Full Job Description

The Copy Editor, Branded Content will be the final eyes on all sponsored content across Future's Fashion Beauty & Home and gaming, entertainment, and tech verticals, ensuring that all content is in line with our brand partners’ objectives and feels organic to the site on which it's published. Our ideal candidate is a highly skilled top editor, proofreader, and wordsmith with a proficiency in optimizing for a digital and social audience. 

As a member of our Branded Content Copy Team, you will be up to date on best digital copy editing practices, with a strong interest in working with brand partners to edit ROI-driving content that meets both campaign KPIs and Future's editorial standards. You will also be expected to balance client needs while maintaining each site's POV. We will look to you to offer expert copy advice at a moment’s notice, while effectively prioritizing departmental needs and working under tight deadlines with a collaborative spirit and positive, can-do attitude.

What you'll be doing…

  • Proofread branded content for Future's Fashion Beauty & Home and Gaming, Entertainment, Tech & Wealth verticals including but not limited to stories, social content, promotional elements, dedicated emails, newsletters, decks, and event copy.
  • Copy edit and top-edit sponsored stories and BC team-led editorial franchises and master the style guides and voice of each site including but not limited to Who What Wear, Marie Claire, Livingetc, Tom's Guide, TechRadar, PC Gamer, and GamesRadar.
  • Ensure branded content adheres to the best practices and style guide of the site on which it's published, and top-edit all branded content to evaluate readability, tone, voice, and issues like normativity.
  • Edit stories in our CMS, making suggestions to improve and optimize branded content based on an understanding of each site's voice, SEO, FTC requirements, client requests and feedback, and knowledge of top-performing content.
  • Stay ahead of digital content best practices, style guide, and industry best practices for native advertising.
  • Assist the branded content editors in writing content from time to time, particularly during downtime from copy-editing duties.
  • Occasionally lead team workshops on various digital writing best practices, including grammar, tone, voice, clarity, etc. 

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve…

  • 2–5 years of experience editing/proofreading, with a proven background in digital media.
  • Must have flawless grammar and be familiar with The Chicago Manual of Style and AP style.
  • Must be able to provide self-direction to manage time and prioritize daily tasks using our project management software. 
  • Demonstrate an ability to provide constructive and concise feedback to various internal and external stakeholders, including clients and team leaders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of online editorial and social media best practices, including optimizing content for SEO.
  • Team-player attitude with a resourceful, can-do spirit and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
  • A background in English or writing education is a plus.
