Full Job Description
indieDwell Collective is on a mission to solve America’s affordable housing crisis and empower underserved communities. We deliver innovative steel-framed, energy-efficient modular solutions for affordable housing developers, including multifamily, single family and emergency housing. indieDwell Collective is B-Corp Certified and headquartered in Boise, Idaho with manufacturing joint-ventures in Southern California and Northern California.
Our journey began in 2016 with a vision to bring healthy, durable, energy-efficient and sustainable housing to those who need it most. After being acquired by Palm Venture Studios in October 2023, we are well-positioned to realize this vision by launching two new factories, expanding our modular design libraries and developing new value-add products and services.
As a Board Member at indieDwell Collective, you'll be joining a forward-thinking team that’s reshaping the affordable housing landscape. Our projects have a long-lasting impact on communities, providing homes to people in need. We have a successful track record delivering projects with developers, contractors and communities, and we're constantly innovating on what's possible in volumetric modular construction.
The company is three months into navigating a “turnaround phase” and is seeking a Board Member to advise the leadership team into its next chapter. The critical path objectives include:
- Securing a first new (and substantial) development contract since coming under new ownership
- Delivering the first new development project on-time and on-budget
- Building out a pipeline of executed contracts and throughput of active work
- Activating two California-based modular manufacturing facilities with our strategic partners
Requirements
You are a great fit for this position if you have…
- A passion for solving the affordable housing crisis via volumetric modular construction
- The ability to be a trusted advisor to the company leadership, its investors and partners
- A proven track record managing strategic partners and to ethical governance
- Led strategic turnarounds to rapidly improve business performance and drive short and long-term results
- An extensive network (or direct experience) in multi-family residential development (ideally in California and with affordable, workforce or student housing projects)
- Hands-on experience in commercial-scale manufacturing and assembly, with exposure to volumetric modular construction, prefabricated housing and/or panelized construction as a plus
Benefits
This board position is compensated.
