Job Title: Battery Modeling Engineer
Location: Remote (within continental US)

Role Summary:
In this role, you’ll be tasked with performing essential duties as a part of both the Iontra research team and the product development team. You’ll play a key part in developing and advancing our battery modeling capabilities, contributing to the optimization of Iontra charging technology. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Analytics, DevOps and Machine Learning to push the boundaries of Iontra technology through advanced modeling techniques. This is a full-time role, which can be performed remotely, in our Centennial, CO office, or hybrid in a fast-paced startup environment.
Salary Range: $130k - $145k (salary is based on education, experience, skillset, and market value).
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develop new battery models and maintain and enhance existing models
- Analyze and improve established models for lithium-ion and other battery technologies
- Integrate new data and physics into existing models
- Identify and address limitations in existing models through rigorous analysis
- Stay up to date on the latest advancements in battery modeling and electrochemical engineering
- Collaborate with diverse teams:
- Partner with the Analytics team on cell parameterization, leveraging their data expertise
- Work with the DevOps team to seamlessly implement battery simulations in the AWS cloud
- Work with Machine Learning team to support the development of physics-informed neural networks
You’ll Need These Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in chemical engineering, material science, electrochemistry, physics, or similar field with 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial or academic setting
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in battery modeling and simulation
- Strong understanding of electrochemical principles, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena
- Proficiency in modeling tools such as PyBaMM, Python
- Proficiency in cell parameterization procedure for model development
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like ASW and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with developing and applying Machine Learning models in battery research
- Experience with battery pack and system-level modeling
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Proficient in using GitHub for version control, code collaboration, and managing repositories
