Full Job Description

Our Home is currently seeking an Audit Specialist to join our team. The Audit Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the company is prepared for and maintains compliance with various food safety and quality standards, including SQF/BRC, GFSI, Organic, Gluten-Free, Kosher, supplier, and social and ethical responsibility audits. This role involves conducting internal audits, preparing for external audits, and working closely with various departments to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Responsibilities

  • Audit Preparation and Coordination: 
    • Develop and maintain audit schedules to ensure timely preparation for SQF/BRC, GFSI, Organic, Gluten-Free, Kosher, Supplier, and social and ethical responsibility audits. 
    • Coordinate and conduct internal audits to assess compliance with applicable standards and identify areas for improvement. 
    • Prepare documentation and records required for external audits, ensuring they meet the relevant standards. 
  • Compliance and Standards Management: 
    • Stay current with updates and changes to food safety and quality standards, including SQF/BRC, GFSI, Organic, Gluten-Free, Kosher, and social and ethical responsibility requirements. 
    • Implement and maintain company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with these standards. 
  • Training and Education: 
    • Train and educate employees on food safety, quality standards, and audit requirements. 
    • Conduct regular training sessions to keep staff informed about changes in standards and best practices. 
  • Continuous Improvement: 
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance compliance and audit readiness. 
    • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions for audit findings and non-conformances
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: 
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all audits, corrective actions, and compliance activities. 
    • Ensure all documentation meets the requirements of the relevant standards and is readily available for review. 
    • Prepare and maintain a scorecard for all audits that is clear and concise for leadership communication
  • Communication and Reporting: 
    • Communicate audit findings, compliance issues, and corrective actions to management and relevant departments. 
    • Prepare and present audit reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and areas for improvement. 
    • Publish the audit scorecard weekly for leadership 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, food safety, or auditing within the food manufacturing industry. 
  • Experience with SQF/BRC, GFSI, Organic, Gluten-Free, Kosher, and social and ethical responsibility audits. 
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and quality standards. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping skills. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • This position may require occasional travel to different manufacturing sites. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours during audit periods.
