Full Job Description
MEMX is searching for an engineer to work the 3:00 PM ET to 12:00 AM ET shift who is curious, driven, self-motivated, and passionate about operational excellence through engineering, monitoring and automation. The role calls for hands-on work in helping to maintain and improve the platform which powers everything that MEMX operates. The solution stack is a mix of open-source and in-house developed solutions to conform to and satisfy the demands of low-latency and high throughput real-time trading platforms. You will be expected to investigate, analyze and innovate at all levels of the solution stack. You could be working on low level system issues, developing monitoring solutions, building deployment solutions or helping resolve production issues. Your focus will be to minimize error rate in the platform which is used to operate various markets.
MEMX currently has a U.S. presence in these states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, & South Carolina.

What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to build and maintain infrastructure which supports MEMX operated platforms
- Design, implement and monitor scalable solutions which run infrastructure, both on-premises and cloud
- Develop custom operating system images to be used in distributed low latency systems
- Debug build systems and continuously improve build performance through metrics and analysis
- Monitor systems capacity and performance to allow for scaling of high performance as necessary in addition to performing root cause analysis for incidents
- Work with the information security team to mitigate software and hardware vulnerabilities in the environment
- Perform other duties as required and any other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study
- Good understanding of operating system, especially in Linux and Linux Internals
- Wizard on Unix command line with very strong Python and shell scripting experience
- Strong understanding of systems, networks and troubleshooting techniques, especially for distributed systems including detailed and thorough analysis
- Experience with installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux servers in production environments
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and follow through
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform job relatively independently
- Highly driven and curious

Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000
