 Position Summary

The Associate Director of Network Engagement and Program Success at YouthBuild USA plays a pivotal role in supporting and guiding YouthBuild programs across the global network. This role serves as the primary liaison between the organization and a portfolio of YouthBuild programs from across our global network, providing critical technical assistance, problem-solving strategies, and customized support to ensure the success and effectiveness of these programs. This position will work to foster an environment that values and respects diverse perspectives, experiences, and identities, creating a sense of belonging for all participants and stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities

Network Engagement and Program Success

  • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the first line of communication for staff at 20-25 YouthBuild programs globally, offering guidance, support, and resources as needed. Each quarter, proactively contact each program within the assigned portfolio.
  • Technical Assistance, Problem Solving, and Tailored Support to the Field: Provide technical assistance to address specific challenges faced by YouthBuild programs. This involves offering solutions and sharing best practices. Understand the unique needs of each program and offer customized support to help them achieve their goals. This will involve developing specialized resources or training materials, planning and hosting sessions and events. Conduct 4 site visits per year to evaluate program implementation and provide recommendations to strengthen programs.
  • Convenings and Gatherings: Provide support and guidance for the planning and execution of conferences, gatherings, and events, such as the National Director’s Association Gathering, Conference of Young Leaders, regional convenings and educational conferences for programs across different regions. Assist in coordinating logistics, securing speakers, facilitating networking opportunities to enhance the learning and collaboration among participants. Ensure that these events prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, creating spaces that are accessible, welcoming, and representative of the diverse YouthBuild community.
  • Collaborate with the Network Engagement Team: Work closely with the network engagement team to identify, analyze, and address trends and challenges observed across the global network of YouthBuild programs.
  • Growth, Quality, Accountability, and Sustainability: Takes responsibility for organization and department health, morale, and organizational integration. Demonstrates leadership in identifying systematic solutions to problems impacting the department, implements systems of accountability, and designs systems to ensure sustainability.
  • Risk Mitigation: Alongside the Senior Director of Network Engagement and full Network Engagement team, develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks, ensuring the smooth operation and effectiveness of YouthBuild programs.
  • External Collaboration: Engage with external supports, including partners, stakeholders, and experts, to address complex challenges and enhance the quality of YouthBuild programs.
  • Database Management: Log and track all interactions and support activities in the Salesforce database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of engagements with YouthBuild programs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of program management processes and practices within YouthBuild USA.

Leadership of the DOL ETA Growth Opportunities Grant

Facilitate Learning Community

  • Administer and lead the logistics for a cohort of 20-25 programs (scheduling, agenda planning, and follow-up).
  • Continuous learning and growth about court-involved youth, policy, and strategies. This role will be YouthBuild’s in-house expert on successful approaches for serving court-involved youth.
  • Convene quarterly learning community sessions.
  • Identify a shared objective and manage progress towards the completion of a capacity-building tools, materials, and resources developed and tested by the Learning Community for use by the YouthBuild network.

Design and Implement Technical Assistance

  • Create project timelines and schedule of activities.
  • Conduct check-in with subgrants to monitor program outreach, recruitment, partnerships.
  • Conduct at least four in-person site visits per year.
  • Design and implement virtual and in-person trainings to subgrantees to strengthen strategies to support court-involved youth.
  • Deliver technical assistance in collaboration with YouthBuild USA’s Strategic Partnerships and members of the Network Engagement team (Mentoring and SBIRT) about initiating and deepening partnerships, incorporating mentoring models, and utilizing SBIRT best practices.

Manage data collection and reporting

  • Provide support and TA to subgrantees to ensure data collection and submission to YouthBuild USA for 15 court-involved youth per subgrantee per year.
  • Collaborate with DYB on data reporting, analysis, and summary.
  • Write and submit all required DOL data and programmatic reporting requirements.

Oversee subawards and Budgeting

  • Create, disseminate, and collect subaward contracts.
  • Collaborate with YouthBuild USA’s Fiscal Team to implement and follow all grant fiscal requirements and reporting.
  • Organize all vouchers, electronic expense reporting, contracts, and other pertinent documents as required by the fiscal office.
  • Manage grant budget with support from the Senior Director of Network Engagement. This will require budget development and preparation, budget monitoring and updates, and modification, if necessary.

The Associate Director of Network Engagement and Program Success must be adept at using database tools like Salesforce and possess strong analytical skills to identify trends and insights from data.

Requirements and Skills

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector and with global outreach.
  • Proven track record of building multi-stakeholder networks and/or teams in diverse country contexts.
  • Cultural competency, a global mindset, and cultural humility.
  • Direct, lived experience in the criminal legal system, with further experience managing, providing support, or conducting technical assistance for diversion, reentry, or restorative justice programs.
  • Interest and experience in youth development, including the lifting of youth voice and support of YouthBuild alumni.
  • Strong relationship-building and management skills.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with a track record of leading and managing projects and program activities across various departments and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a diverse community; ability to work with minimal direction and guidance after initial instruction.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, handle multiple requests, and provide detailed and accurate execution of various tasks simultaneously.
  • Good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.

YouthBuild USA offers competitive salary and benefits, including health coverage, a 401(k) savings plan, life insurance, and disability benefits. Salary $75K - $80K.
