Full Job Description
Work Location: Remote. Candidates located in New York or San Francisco metropolitan areas preferred.
Who we are:
Purpose Venture Group (PVG) is a rapidly growing consulting firm that partners exclusively with venture-backed startups, market leaders and large nonprofits focused on advancing the health of our climate. We collaborate with our climate-centered clients to design and deliver new products and ventures, develop compelling financial plans and build businesses that deliver both profit and impact.
We focus on three sectors—financial services, built environment and mobility— where we have decades of collective experience as investors, builders and operators.
About the Role:
Purpose Venture Group is hiring an Associate who will make an immediate impact on the firm’s client work, help build the firm’s capabilities and contribute to the thriving, inclusive and collaborative culture that makes PVG special. This is an individual-contributor position and a highly visible, externally-facing role. Associates need to be comfortable engaging with clients in a professional and respectful manner and taking a leadership role in driving team problem-solving.
Associates are core to PVG’s work. They have a broad range of responsibilities working across PVG clients and initiatives, ranging from market research, site visits, quantitative analyses, strategy development, modeling and the development of deliverables that summarize the firm’s findings and recommendations.
Depending on client needs, this role may involve moderate amounts of business travel, although much of our project work is done virtually.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyses and Deliverables Creation: You will conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of market opportunities and potential new business models in service of developing a view of the highest-leverage opportunities for a given product or initiative. On your own or in collaboration with a team lead, you will create decks, memos and other client-facing content that communicate PVG’s analysis in compelling and impactful ways.
- Research, Data Analytics and Visualization: You will manage an array of research projects related to client deliverables and PVG initiatives. These include conducting client and expert interviews, market landscape surveys, competitive landscape analysis, energy and climate policy audits and public policy reviews. We are looking for someone who is excellent at synthesizing and distilling information from a broad array of sources into actionable insights.
- Financial Modeling: We believe understanding the unit economics of products and the financial health of organizations that build those products is a critical step in solving the problems that we want to address. You will coordinate with company leadership and management to build FP&A financial models and investor models that accurately capture the financial aspects of operating budgets, core and ancillary business lines and product development, enabling planning and decision making including internal investment decisions.
- Project and Client Management: With limited guidance, you will be responsible for day-to-day project management and execute an array of client-related tasks. You will suggest ways to address client needs and look for new ways to shape client success.
